Row 2: These are photos taken in front of the United Nations. The broken chair is a symbol of the destructive force of land mines. The guards could speak many languages and, (can you believe this?), they wouldn't let us in! The last picture is a shot of the Russian Embassy. We thought this was interesting as it is only a block from headquarters. We didn't see the US embassy, hence, there is no photo!
Row 3: This is a shot of one of the oldest buildings in Geneva. It was very nice. The 2 pictures on the right are of Red Cross World Headquarters.
Row 4: These are shots taken around Geneva. The second picture shows the parking spaces left in the various underground lots they have. Really handy when you're in a hurry to park. The last picture shows some people playing chess. Yes, those are large pieces and, they are there everyday. The place was actually crowded with people playing chess and others watching.
Row 5: This was taken at the entrance to the park where they play chess. It is called Place Neuve. The last photo shows Jeanne in front of the Wall of Reformation which was built on the original ramparts to the city which date back to about 1200.
Row 6 and 7: These
are various shots taken around Geneva. The 2nd shot in Row 6 shows some
Climbing Santas. We saw these all over Switzerland and at the Amsterdam
Airport. The parking meters are all electronic and, if you don't enter
the correct numbers, you get a ticket. Those are 2 cops who were writing
tickets as we walked past!
