-------------------------------------- ICQ Chat Save file Started on Sat Apr 04 13:03:58 1998 -------------------------------------- <&PALchat1> Hi Marty 's gonna help us here?? Maggie - what did you use to round the checkbook corners? Hi everyone! A corner rounder punch. That's about the extent of MY embellishments! Hi Marty! I keep trying to buy one - they never have them in stock. Sue Beck sells corner rounders Order from Wacky Wagon. She carries loads, Cat My embellishing consists of laminating and using scissors <&PALchat1> So Marty, how do you like to embellish? OK I will check with her. Warning, Cat: Wacky has LOADs of neat stuff!! I spend WAY too much $$ there! <&PALchat1> Susieque... you can jump in anytime... You folks are making me feel better - I was intimidated. I love the sparkles and also adding something like a button. I made an angel and got metallic 'stuffed' wings from Walmart at Christmas I have a problem when I try to use embossing powder that it bubbles....am I using the heat gun to long or is that what it's supposed to do. Did ya all read about Wackey's new tiny/mini cookie cutters? I got some, and they are DARLING! Some PALs text here is coming up WHITE and I can't read it. Can you tell me how to change that? Or can I? What do you do with the cookie cutters, Maggie? <&PALchat1> SusieQue... sometimes it is supposed to be a little bumpy... but you might be holding the heat too close. Did read about the cookie cutters...I'll have to check that out. Maggie - layout IRC style, Display - override format One of the mini cookie cutters I got was for a dog bone. I'm making homemade dog biscuits to put in bags with baggie tags. REAL cute. Neat Maggie. <&PALchat1> Maggie, you can change your background to a medium grey... or use the override format. Thanks. Grey bkg. is perfect. <&PALchat1> Ok, so the cookie cutters aren't for paper? No, not for paper. But they are neat to make special cookies with, put in baggies with bag tags, AND include the cookie cutter with it for a gift. Gee that leaves me out as I don't cook or bake (much) (gg). <&PALchat1> That is a cute idea... tho I'm not one to do any baking that involves a rolling pin. Maggie, are you selling much stuff in your bags? I also got a mini-teacup cookie cutter (got lots of different ones) and am making special tea mixtures for baggie tag, then tiny teacup cookies to go with, in baggie tags, of course, and include a tiny teacup cookie cutter. <&PALchat1> The simpler the better... if I can't take it out of the fridge, slice and bake it... forget it. You can get the pre-made cookie dough from the frige section of the grocery store. Do you embellish the cookies Maggie? I don't have the time to sell much of my actual STUFF I make anymore....just selling the disk packages of the designs so people can make their own. I make my stuff for gift giving mostly. Maggie - is your website up yet? Embellishment is not one of my strong suits, cookies OR PA. I sprinkle with colored sugar is about all! LOL Mag - is your last disk the checkbook cover disk? <&PALchat1> If you were to sell your stuf Maggie... where or how do you market it? I am finishing my websites this weekend to put back up. Will probably be back up on Sunday or Monday. Good Maggie - thanks. Most of my marketing, when I DID sell a lot of my stuff, was word of mouth. People see the stuff and contact me. I got TONS of business that way. Sue - I have found that the people who do the best with selling their stuff are people who already have jobs. <&PALchat1> Well, that's great. They have more opportunity to show their stuff. Also have a neighbor who owns the Beauty Spa in front of my apt. bldg. who lets me sell my stuff there anytime I want. <&PALchat1> Yeah, I'm doing this to avoid getting a real job here... gonna have to knock on a lot of doors I'm sure. Sue, I'd be happy to "do" a chat on marketing on ICQ here sometime in the near future. <&PALchat1> Maggie that would be GREAT. Do you have a consignment shop near you Sue Sue - try schools - that is where I get most of my business. Last night I used that Fanci Kwik stencil paste with a brass stencil on black linen type cardstock. Looks super. I actually had TOO much success at marketing my stuff when I was selling it, before concentrating on selling the PA designs instead. I ended up turning away customers due to lack of time. Am going to color it with pastel chalks. <&PALchat1> Well, there is not a whole lot NEAR me... LOL, but I'm sure there are plenty in town. I have to learn all the places still. You can always sell online, on a website. Who do you talk to at the schools? Can also do mail order catalogs, Sue Marty - I have heard of the stencil paste - not sure what it is. My mail order catalogs were a flop!! How come they flopped, Cat? Sara - booster clubs, anyone needing a fundraiser Mags - I don't know - they did not generate any sells <&PALchat1> Marty, tell us more about this paste Thanks I thought Wanda Henry's candy bar deal for political candidates was FANTASTIC YES I DID TOO It is a thick goop that you apply over the taped stencil with a squeegie. Then I removed the stencil and voila, there is this 3 D white image of my stencil <&PALchat1> I was hoping to dot he candy bar thing for new subdivisions in the area... this is a very fast growing area so I thought it might be a hit. Sue Beck sells it. Jar is 4 oz. and will last a lifetime I think! Sara - talk to the PTA too Sounds like a great idea, Sue! Does the paste come in different colors???? <&PALchat1> So, what does it feel like... I just can't picture the stuff Marty. Can we sell things with PA images on them? Sue - I think real estate agents could use the candy bars too - open house. <&PALchat1> Yeah, that too Cathy Some PA graphics are copyright, some aren't I think the paste may come in different colors. I don't know. I think I could add a little acrylic paint to a glob of it to color it if I wanted. How do we know? Hi Marge You can find which are and which aren't under the HELP in PA <&PALchat1> Hi neighbor margilee! You can use most all of PA graphics except for Doodlers and jpegs. I bought the Color Crystal Lacquer stuff, which sounds like the paste you are using. <&PALchat1> Marty, the only way I can picture it is like a plaster... is that right? I am going to use chalks to color my finished stencil. Will tape the stencil back on, use my chalks, take stencil off and spray with clear cote Does it take a long time to dry Marty?? This Color Crystal Lacquer comes in tiny squeeze bottles, and you just put it on top of design areas, like squeezing glue on. No Maggie - the Color Crystal Lacquer (I have that too ) is more liquid and translucent. This is a solid stuff, sort of like plaster Ahh Because I use so little it take maybe an hour or two to dry. <&PALchat1> Does it have a texture to it or is it smooth? Can you see through it, Marty? Like the lacquer? <&PALchat1> I don't know why I am asking all these questions... it's not like I'll ever use it ... LOL Sue - me too! Ok, think I finally got this thing. Hi everyone. If you smooth it down, will be smooth. You can give it texture if you like. You cannot see through it. Well, shoot, Sue....I have TONS of stuff here I never use! LOL <&PALchat1> For the newcomers.... feel free to jump in anytime... if you have any questions about embellishing, ask away! I too have tons of stuff I never use. My room I am sitting in is the biggest mess! Couldn't be a bigger mess than my room! Are there other purposes you would use it for?? No my room is the messiest!! Creative minds are rarely tidy. That's MY moto! LOL whew..glad to hear that!! I buy stuff without even knowing what it is! Capi calls me a true crafter. Say don't know what it is but gotta have it! <&PALchat1> I don't have a room anymore...sniff sniff... all my craft stuff is in the bedroom closet. Creative clutter is better than idle neatness! You gals make me feel good...I thought I had the only messy room. Oh no, Sue!!!! How awful! When my GK's come over, they say, "Can't go in Nanny's puter room..... it's DANGEROUS!" Does anyone know a crafter who is a neat freak? Susieque - I don't know if it has other uses. Barb Rossman did an editorial on it.Can't remember what all she said. <&PALchat1> Yep, don't even have room to hook up the scanner until we get our addition built. Mine is in living room, loveseat piled up with stuff and chest of drawers full :( doesn't do a lot of good to have lots of room if you're as disorganized as I am. How bout organizing how to tipe. Tell me what is a good padding (glue?) for the notepads? I like padding compound. Tacky glue - Aleenes. What is padding compound? You'll get a different answer on padding glue from everyone you ask. <&PALchat1> I made the dollar pads one... I just used elmers white glue and it worked fine... two coats. I have used plain old elmer's glue and it worked fine for me. Padding compound is about like Elmer's glue, but you brush it on, and it's a bit thinner. I buy my padding compound at Kelly Paper or the art supply store. I have a lifetime supply of Sparco padding glue - huge jar - haven't had a chance to use it, but I am going to will what is left to my great grandchildren, etc. I have so much it could be a family heirloom! I don't like to make pads. You used Elmers on dollar bills? A jar of it sells for about $8 and lasts forever! <&PALchat1> LOL Marty <&PALchat1> Yes, Sara I think $$$-wise, padding compound is less expensive than Elmer's I tried some money folding yesterday - gave up Maggie - after I made the coloring book pads for the Santa Letters, I swore I would never make them again How come, Cat? Why Cat <&PALchat1> Probably so Maggie... but I laready have the Elmers... and it was a one time thing. I don't know - they just took so much time to make. Do you cut your note pads yourself??? Well, after last year's Santa Letter packages, I don't think I'll ever be selling those again! WAY to big a response, and so little time. I about lost my mind. How many did you make? About 40-50. And with everything else I had going on at that time of year, that was WAY too many Sue - thanks to a post from you from months ago, I got my new fiscars paper cutter problem straightened out. Amanda sent me the kit you talked about. Thanks. I wanted to sell 100 - I SURE WAS GLAD I didn't Me too! LOL <&PALchat1> Good to hear Marty... Next year - everything will come from OT except for the letter and reindeer food I used a LOT of OT stuff in mine, but still took a lot of time. <&PALchat1> Mine is still crooked.... the first one was cutting off the pad tho... this one is much better. She replaced the whole cutter for me. Mine didn't come with ANY washers - she sent me two and a free blade and 2 mat refills. ?? what is OT? Oriental Trading Co. Marty, do you still have that info. thnx <&PALchat1> OT? oh nevermind washers for what - I missed that Oh I see now - the paper cutter. <&PALchat1> washers for the fiskars desktop cutter I finally got the Fiskar cutting board cuz my "regular" paper cutter was driving me nuts, and I LOVE IT! My cutter doesn't cut straight either. <&PALchat1> Does anyone have the 12" personal trimmer that Terri sells? I bought a Fiskars two years ago - took it back. I don't Yes Susie - I sure do. Amanda at Fiskars800-950-0203 ext 277 I have the 10" personal trimmer <&PALchat1> I find I can cut straighter with the handheld using a guideline... I really onely use the desktop one for perforating because I can put more pressure on it. Thanks Marty...got it. My fiskars rotary cutter has gotten dull..how do you sharpen it I have a handheld cutter - I rarely use it. <&PALchat1> Think you just gatta replace the blade Javanut I love the blades that you can get for the cutter if only it would cut straight. Mine seems to cut straight. Does anyone know how to sharpen a regular swing blade paper cutter. I've heard if you cut fine grade sand paper with the paper cutter, that'll sharpen it, but have never tried it. Gotta run gals....have a GREAT weekend. <&PALchat1> Bye Susieque Bye Susieque! BYE Susie bye susieque I need to get outta here soon and finish the web pages. Have 4 new disk packages I wanna get up there. 4!!! Great for you! Did you do these alone or with help? Goodie! It's been killing me, Cat! LOL <&PALchat1> Looking forward to seeing the pages Maggie! All alone. Karen had to quit due to her family problems. I thought your sis was going in with you. Tho I do now have a PAL who proofs for me and is going to be my shipping dept. My sis Dee-Dee pooped out on me, as usual. That is sure a lot of work Maggie. I will beta test your disks. Thanks, Cat. Will keep that in mind. For the next ones. I was kidding. BUT for real - if you need someone - I will. Oh....thanks a lot! LOL I'm always looking for beta testers. You may be sorry you said that Maggie. LOL We'll all be standing in line to do that! I have just made the neatest bookmarks with an opaque laminating film. Actually, right now I need someone interested in beta testing a disk package that uses Teapot Design graphics....they'd have to have Teapot's graphics to test it. <&PALchat1> Opaque... describe that Cat. You can't get Teapot to include her graphics? You can't see through it - you use it on the back. Shucks, I don't have those yet Maggie. No, I'd have to pay her for that, and don't wanna get into that. <&PALchat1> Hmm... does it come in colrs? Yes - it comes in colors Use it on the back? Is it cold laminate? Well, will be starting some new disks after this weekend when these 4 go on sale, so will be looking for betas then. No - not cold laminate <&PALchat1> cool... can you use the opaque on the back with clear on the front? Yes - it made my bookmarks look professional. Oh, where do you get it Cat? <&PALchat1> I wish I was rich so I could buy everything everyone sells! ME Cat, I LOVE the super thin laminating film I got from you, btw! Oh, are you Cathy? It's wonderful for lots of things. This film comes in pouches but it is expensive. Yes - this is cathy I bought a roll - cut a piece off cut another piece of clear film to put on top. I think your price on the roll of super thin laminant is fantastic! Great buy! Thanks. Oh, like the thin laminate, only colors. Cool. Ok, how many colors? then laminated the sheet of paper let me see - bright yellow - white Hold on Need a drink.....brb red blue green and black Ooooooh. Can you email me with details? marty@csj.net OK - I will I mean price, etc. <&PALchat1> is it on your website yet, Cathy? My laminator is one thing that is NOT buried in this mess! I only have the white and yellow - don't know what the other colors look like the colored film is not on the website I also need some of your sticker type laminating stuff. I'll bet a sky blue would be pretty on stuff. Yeah - I think these colors are probably bright primary colors not pretty colors <&PALchat1> sticker type? The yellow is nice for certain things, but probably the white would be best. What color did you use Cathy? I used white because I used white paper You cannot tell that it is a laminated piece of paper. Did you ever finish that big order you had for business card magnets Cathy? and how did everything work out? <&PALchat1> Cathy... my husband is here... could you please explain to him why I need a laminator now? LOL Because I want to buy an ALPS printer Sue - it IS a MUST HAVE!!! I did do the job for the magnets. The laminator a must have I mean Sue's husband: I use my laminator for EVERYTHING I make. It is really a must. I earn thousands of dollars each year with my home business and couldn't do it without the laminator. Seriously! Good, I remember you were concerned about the lineup I think. I turn away business. That is great Maggie! The laminator will pay for itself in no time at all! For real - there are so many things that you can do with a laminator <&PALchat1> He's not convinced...yet. It add a totally professional look to everything you make. That is right Maggie - I have used mine so much. What if you don't sell things? I would like to but haven't yet Candy bar wraps are a great selling item, but when they're not laminated they just don't have a professional look to them. What convinced me was the Santa Letter. Cold laminate doesn't compare to using Cathy's machine. Magnets and bookmarks are out of this world! A laminator was the first thing I bought for my business. Even if you don't sell, they great for gift items you make for Xmas and birthdays Also the refrigerator wipe off boards! Laminator was my first thing too. You will save money by making more gifts rather than buying them I don't even have a business and I think it is a great asset. At work they all think I am some kind of a genius! The first things I made with a laminator was Braggin' Badges for the local football booster club. I made lots of $$$ making those badges. I really think I'd be OUT of business if the laminator took a dive. <&PALchat1> whats a braggin badge? until this year when someone volunterred to make the most tackiest lookin' things for free. <&PALchat1> well, you guys convinced ME... now I have to work on him. Sheesh it'll cost me a mint drivin to Staples every time I need somthing laminated. a braggin' badge is worn by parents to football games. It Mom of # 17 <&PALchat1> cool, cute idea. Did they have a pin back? Lordy!!! You'll save so much money doing your OWN laminating, not to mention the time driving to Staples It has the school name, school logo name, with the jersey # I use those clips that you see employees wearing with ID badges Oh, neat Cathy. I also make them for parents of band members. Was it your idea originally? Maybe you will get the business back next year since they were tacky this year. Do you put the student's name on them? Yes - it was my idea. I put the last name in small letters. <&PALchat1> Hi Lynne Wish I was creative like that. Very nice Cathy. Hi everyone! Hi LadyDove. Cathy - what did you charge for them? Hi Dove! I charged $3.00, but might come down to try to get my business back What type of paper did you do them on Cathy? I remember - I changed them - the jersey number is in big letters - then is says John's Mom or John's Dad regular paper - text or John's sister or John's girlfriend That is what makes a laminator so great - you can turn any paper into something spectacular. When I first started making the badges, I took them to the local printer for laminating. Half of them would come back messed up. That is when I decided I must buy my own to get more professional results. Where did everybody go Sue, will I get my hands slapped if I get just a bit OT here for a sec? OT=off topic, NOT Oriental Trading Co. LOL <&PALchat1> Heck no... go ahead Have we been on topic? When I get my new web pages up this weekend, there will be some new free PA downloads you'll HAVE to see...... Cool! .....one in particular is DARLING!! Everyone I've made them for goes nuts! I'm giving you advance warning because..... <&PALchat1> Oooo... goodie goodie. OK OK OK tellus ....they are a BRAND NEW way to make BEAUTIFUL thermometer magnets that you won't believe, and..... .....you'll want to get a jump and order some of Cat's mini thermometers......and..... and type faster Maggie. I can't stand the suspence Oh Gosh! I don't have many in stock!!! You should have TOLD ME!! .....want to tell you do not order from Wacky Wagon for these, because the mini thermometers she carries are a totally different size and don't work for this project. Cathy - you know I want some of your thermometers then. <&PALchat1> Oh... are these like the ones you did for the not a card swap? I guess I better place an order in the AM. There will be pictures of the finished thermometer magnets on my web pages. You really will love them! They turn out so nice. Sorry I didn't warn you Cat! LOL Is Wacky Wagon's thermometers bigger - smaller? Warning: You also need a laminator for these! Uh oh! Has anyone done an Easter package like Maggie's Santa one? Wacky's thermometers are even SMALLER! They are SO tiny. Don't know if I'll ever be able to do anything with them. <&PALchat1> Maggie, if these are the ones you did for the Not a Card swap... I can vouch for them... they are too cute!!! I thought these were really small. My sister and I have done some Valentine and Easter things, Marty, not exactly like the Santa ones, but real cute. Yep, just like the ones for Not a Card swap, Sue! Are any of them on your disks Maggie? Well - why didn't you share with us Mags!! As a matter of fact, there are some on the new disks coming out this weekend or Monday, Marty. <&PALchat1> Mine is on my fridge.... hey, one thing you should do when you make these is make sure the thermometer is lined up right so it reads the correct temp. I AM sharing wity you, Cat! LOL Good Maggie. I am DEFINITELY going to order these! Is yours NOT reading the right temp, Sue?? <&PALchat1> Mine is a little off... just need to stick something in there to push it up a tad... no big deal. <&PALchat1> I hope that didn't sound like a gripe.... I love mine. Gosh, maybe it thinks it's still in Phoenix. LOL I don't know Sue - your way you can have the temp be just what you want it to be! <&PALchat1> LOL.... good plan Marty. Cathy has run off to count her thermometers LOL She's furiously ordering MORE! She's in a panic now! LOL When I made my first thermometer magnets (which are NOTHING compared to the new design)..... I bought one of those long staplers a few weeks ago. Want to make some booklet cards. ....the PAL who was selling the thermometers at that time went NUTS with orders for them. So, can we send her a card at some institution? LOL LOL Hi Faith! HI all hi faith Hi Faith Faith, you got some embellishing tips to share with us?? <&PALchat1> Hi Faith so have some left or is this all there was that showed Some have been in and out <&PALchat1> Yeah, we've wndered off topic but if anyone has any embellishing tips or questions... jumpo on in. <&PALchat1> It's been a nice small group today. What do you use beside ribbon or rafia to tie a booklet? Anything else? Should I be insulted How'd we manage to run Faith off?? LOL speaking of tying a booklet, i tried using ribbon but it would never tighten enough for my liking <&PALchat1> She probably just got disco's What did I miss?? I got cut off. Welcome back Cat. <&PALchat1> disconected We thought you ran off to order more thermometers! LOL I had that problem Pat with rafia, so I sewed it first cuz I didn't have the stapler. Still didn't tighten up but was ok since it was sewed. What a pain though. That was for a swap! I use my comb binding machine on booklets. Haven't tried anything else. i finally ended up buying a long stapler after the ribbon experience The last I saw was something about putting something on the fridge. This is being logged Cathy, so you can get it from Sue or me. I don't have the very beginning though. Sue, tell your husband you also NEED a comb binder! For your booklets....do you all print on both sides of the paper? I guess I need a comb binder too. I print both sides. Yes, I print on both sides too. i didn't on the first booklet i made cause i was having troubles with pagination Comb binder is another thing I use ALL the time. <&PALchat1> Well, I need the laminator more... after I start making money I won't have to answer to him. I am going to make a booklet for a lady who is turning 90 on April 25. Used to be a school teacher. I just bought a comb binder after a lot of serious thinking if I really needed it! What do you use for the cover of the booklet? but since ms publisher was mentioned for booklets, i've been using that and printing on both sides with no problem What brand Cathy? Sue, when we do the "marketing" chat, we need to get Darleen to help with it too. I bought a demo from USI. It looks brand new and has the full warranty. I use card stock for my cover and then fancy text type weight paper inside - like parchment or whatever. So - if someone wants one, let me know and I will check to see if I can get you a demo. <&PALchat1> Yeah, I've already been in touch with her about it. Maybe the two of you could get together about the time, and let me know. Cathy I do! demo of what? demo comb binder I have been working on a booklet. I took posterboard and then tissue paper for the cover <&PALchat1> The week after this would be good. Oh, that sounds neat LadyDove. Sounds like you put a lot of loving care into your booklets, Dove I'm going to bind the whole thing together....some how :) LadyDove, are you the one that does the mugs and stuff? You can take them to a place like Staples to bind with their comb binding if needed, Dove I live in a area where we don't have much of anything :( Office Depot has equipment set-up that you may use for free including a comb binder. The front and back of the cover are two seperate things You can send 'em to me to comb bind if you want. No problem. It's gonna be more like a book I guess I would love to have one for calendars. The 'real city' is about 45 minutes from here! <&PALchat1> I have a thing written by Kay Hall about how she binds a book using hot glue in a skillet. hot blue in a skillet hi maggy Wow! That sounds different are yoou all done Sounds interesting! :) That sounds intriguing. Is that something you could email us Sue? Or post it to the List? Hey Maggie V - let's see. Are you from Canada? LOL <&PALchat1> it's in her book that is supposed to come out. me... no Well - we use irons for laminating, now skillets for binding books. :heee heeeeeeee heeeeeeeeeee I wish that book would come out bought time we find some use for irons and stoves LOL! <&PALchat1> Yeah, last I heard it wouldn't be out until summer. what did you learn today Gals, I've gotta get back to work here or my web pages will never get done. Great chatting with you all! Her book is like PA 5.0!! <&PALchat1> I don't know about posting to the list without her permission. bye maggie <&PALchat1> Bye Maggie... thanks for joining! bye Maggie Kay must be so upset about that. I know she has done all she can. Don't know what the publisher's problem is! Bye all! Bye Maggie Bye Maggie - let us know as soon as the site is ready for d/l. I imagine she is. It was supposed to be ready by Christmas. what did you gals learnd today I think we chatted most of the time <&PALchat1> Well, we wandered off topic a lot... I learned what I already knew... I NEED a laminator! ohhhhhhhhhh ohh ;yea... they are sooo cool Yeah - Sue learned that she needs a laminator i love mine and cant wait till i get the Xryon i need a new house to put all this stuff in :/ <&PALchat1> Did you have an embellishment you wanted to discuss Maggy? I can't convince myself I want one of those yet. it finnally got to Karens.. the first one was broken yea... i got something from sue beck but not sure how to use it and that would be...... <&PALchat1> ok, what is it? it is called Stamp and stick it is a powder ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh I certainly don't know how to help you! i just read the instrucktions I've got that too. Some where on my puter I have some instructions. I haven't used mine yet, but I can send you the insturctions that someone posted somewhere (rubberstamping list I used to be on) 1 using embossing ink, stamp the image onto a card <&PALchat1> well, that's a good starting point Maggy! or andd embossing marker may also be used 2 pour on stamp n stick powder , shake off excess 3 heaat slightly with heat gun.. only until powder melts and turns shiny about 3 seconds 4 apply glitter and shake off excess Sounds good to me! 5 reheat stamped area this cures the adhesive and sets it or you can use aan "easy-release" foil tooo What is easy release foil? a foil you lay down.. on glue.. and it releases.. and stays there when you lift it up ok, I have that. i will have to try this :) sorry about the reeepeaat letteres my hands are verry sore to day hi blu Hi everyone! Hi Blu Hi Pat! Hi Cat thanks Sue! <&PALchat1> No problem did I miss it all? hey hey bllu Hey Maggy!!! :) <&PALchat1> I was planning to be here a little while longer, did you have an embellishment you wanted to discuss? I need to get an ICQ with my name! LOL Blu - who are you? Martym...I'm dblu...or Nancy <&PALchat1> You can change it Blu, it's on the menu under View/Change my details. Sue...um...I have been doing perganamo...(sp) it is easy todo.. you just click on ICQ and then on ADD/Change current user and you get new name or new ICQQ Thanks Nancy. what is pergamano? <&PALchat1> Hey, ya'll I hate to cut this short but my husband is expecting a fax and I'm on that line. By Maggie <&PALchat1> Bye folks. what did you all talk about today...I was so busy I couldn't get here on time How long do you spend on a pergamano card - about? I think they take a long time. Martym...my first one took me about 4 hours! LOL I have to go too. I have stuff I need to do. Nice chatting with ya! Nancy - we mostly chatted. There will be a log we can send you (if it works!) if you would like. By Cathy. I just got an ALPS...and I am going to see if I can't cut the time by printing the outlines...instead of tracing them See you guys next time!! bye cat Bye Cat!!! Uh Oh - I better stay. You said you just bought an ALPS. ohhhh...Martym...thank you...I would love to have the log! I have a print gocco I have hardly used and that would be a good thing if I were to make hundreds of the same card LOL...yep...I did..and I LOVE it! Which ALPS did you buy? I got the 2300 Where did you get it? what is your email nancy and tell us about the Alps. Martym...ohhhhh...I have drooled over the gocco for years! dblu@concentric.net what is a print grocco? Cat...I ordered from CDW....the price for the 2300 was about the same as the 1000 from them I can't make up my mind which one I want to buy. It's a small screen printing machine that you can do multiple prints on. Uses 2 flash bulbs. Kind of cool for multiples. What is the difference in the 2300 and 1300? What is the difference between those two printer models and how much are they? About - sorry don't mean to be tacky. Cat...what do you want to do with it...mostly just printing...or photos? LOL..that's not tacky! I don't do many photos but that does not mean that I might not start the one I got was $409....the rest of the places I looked at it it was about $700 Cat...for the money...I would get the 2300 What is the difference? it also has duel feed....nice for card stock! That sounds like a very good price. I thought they were way more than that! the dpi is larger on the 2300....other than that..I'm really not to sure Where is CDW? They are coming out with one called 1300. I don't know how many $$ and exactly what it is. 600 dpi on this thing is like nothing you have ever seen! What is the dpi for the 1000? martym...they are in Indiana....and they do have a page I think Cat...hold on...I have some paper work on the 1000 let me go get it! BRB Guess I won't be happy till this room is filled with cables, and cords from all kinds of computer/laminating, etc. stuff! Marty - I had those websites written down somewhere. Cathy - in my email to you I forgot to mention the binder also. ok...I think I'm back! LOL OK - they don't always have them but if you can wait - they will. 1300....I don't have prices...but info What do you think the 1300 has that your's does not. whoa...i just got a card with 3-d crystal laquer.....cool stuff...and of course, gotta have it now well...I can tell you the 2300 weighs more! LOL DPI? LOL - just more shipping ok...for one...it uses the white ink...the 2300 they say doesn't..but you can fool it into doing that Pat- the 3-d crystal is wonderful. Makes eyes look fantastic too. sorry...reading slow! LOL so where do i get it? the 1000...has the highest dpi....1200x600 Plaid's Dimensional Magic is the same thing. The Crystal 3 D is available from Sue Beck and I think Capi. all of them do photos Looks like the more expensive machine would have the highest dpi. What about metallic ink for the Alps? Cat...if I was you..I would call ALPS and ask them what the difference is in the different models! OK - I will do that. I sure can't see much from the stuff I have here! All Alps do metallic ink - I think the metallics are beautiful! thanks marty....think i will check joann's, but they never have anything I have a certificate to do by next Thursday - sure would be nice to do the name in metallic gold. Where are you from Pat? iron on transfers...are out of this world! New York....all's we have is a Joann's and an A.C. Moore....no michaels or mjd How long did it take for you to get your Alps? two days NYC or are you Western NY? Joanns is always out of stuff! I used to work at one years ago. I will warn you though...it's slow...but fun to watch...it sets down each color one at a time i'm in central new york...right between buffalo and nyc Marty - where do you work now? Does it go through ink fast? the ink is really a film...it look like a typewriter ribbon Pat- ok - we did the valentine swap- your swap. Joann's sends all their stuff to the big cities, then smaller areas get leftovers. I also heard that the ribbon turns even when it is not in use which wastes the ribbon. seems to do really well as far as how much it prints on a ribbon! our joann's has practically nothing.....except fabric Are they separate ribbons for each color? a.c. moore is rather lacking too yep...and you can put in metallics...or regulars at the same time....4 ribbons at a time they do have a multi color ribbon too I just hate that Pat, but where I live now there is only Wal-mart. Joann's went out of business. Have to drive 45 miniutes or so. Guess I will eventually get me an ALPs. Hi Sue...welcome back glad though we have a lot of pal vendors that sells all this cool stuff <&PALchat1> Hi guys... I left in such a hurry and forgot to save the buffer! I agree. If it weren't for the vendors, I'd probably be able to see what I have in this puter room. LOL LOL! I should have it Sue. If I remember <&PALchat1> Marty, I think you were here the longest, could you save it? LOL..Martym....who can see their room? Sure will. <&PALchat1> Whew! <&PALchat1> Maybe you could save it now just in case you forget later. Sue - should I save it every once in a while, or just before I leave? I had to move piles...into new piles...to put the printer when it got here! LOL Blu - was I right about the ribbon moving even when it is not printing? gee, glad my puter room isn't the only one that's a disaster LOL <&PALchat1> I think we need three lines in this house! OK Sue, I have saved it. Then will save it again when we are done, right? If I get the Alps, I will have to hang it from the ceiling. Cat....I really can't tell you...I don't hear it doing anything...and you can hear it when it does something LOL Cathy! LOL...Cat...now that's a good idea! <&PALchat1> Cat, I have been drooling over that alps myself... I think that might be next after the laminator. <&PALchat1> Yes, thank you Marty! mine wouldn't work with my A-B box either...so now I have to get another printer port to hook up my HP <&PALchat1> Just save it under the same name when you leave... you're a lifesaver. So, if I were to get bumped, I would loose what buffer I haven't saved? Is that correct? yeppers I mailed you the other one the other night. Did you get it? <&PALchat1> Correct, but if I save mine we could peice it together. <&PALchat1> Yes, I sure did, thanks for that. My brain will burst someday from learning all this stuff. I just got another parallel port, so I guess I could put the ALPS on with my zip drive. oh...martym...could you send me that one too please? Cat...I tried that! Is the ALPs bi-directional? Yes, I sure will send it to you Nancy. Marty - sometimes I think my computer is just gonna blowup! some seem to have good luck...and others it seems to want to be the one and only i often wonder how much you can add to a computer before it says enough....and just blows up yes...it's it bi-directional Pat...I found that one out! LOL <&PALchat1> I traded my external zip drive for an internal one. Wish I could have 3 printer ports. I can just have two! I feel like I stretch my computer to its very limits and it is just gonna blow!! I'm going to network my old puter and this one...then I will have room for all the toys! LOL Yikes, and here I sit with a Packard Bell (embarrassed, but the sucker does what I need.) my monitor bit the dust yesterday....and it's only 14 months old :( Blu, so you are saying that you can't put the zip and the APLS together? A QVC special. Wow, was I green. You're lucky....on this one computer I can only have one printer port :( Have to use another computer for more printers that I have. Sue...good idea....I'm getting a CD writer...so I won't have room for the internal zip <&PALchat1> Pat, monitors seem liek they are always the first to... and no cheap repair either. I want one of those too!!! Cat...mine wouldn't work that way...but some have better luck! Lets face it - we want IT ALL!!! Did you use the bidiretional cable?c well it's under warranty still....we gotta ship it to nj....but they aren't charging us except the shipping cost to jersey <&PALchat1> Yeah, me too... but it will have to be an external. I figured I could daisy chain it to the scanner. to bad puters don't have room for it ALL! LOL yep...sure did Cat! but still.....i'm never buying a panasonic monitor again <&PALchat1> That's good Pat, it pays to get one with a long warantty period. Well - I gotta go now. See ya'll later. that's the one thing I have had good luck with..is my monitors! LOL <&PALchat1> Bye Cat By Cathy Bye Bye Cat!!!! <&PALchat1> what brand Blu? IBM Sue i'm using my 6 year old monitor now.....now this sucker is a gooooooooood monitor <&PALchat1> I'll keep it in mind. the old one I have is 7 years old...and still works like a charm <&PALchat1> I bought a cheapo but it had a 3 yr waranty that I have already had to use after 6 months. Sue - this log may require a lot of editing. Just noticed when I did another save as it was calling itself text 2 instead of the test 3. So I should have it all, will just have to edit it. Darn! ouch...I can deal with other things going wrong...but the monitor would have to hurt big time! <&PALchat1> ok, I appreciate you doing it for me. <&PALchat1> We keep a spare 14" I just tend to burn out Mother Boards! LOL this monitor is normally on my daughter's system....she sees me with it in here and asks me how i got all my stuff on it she wanted to know what happenhan a camera! <&PALchat1> You mean there really is an end? No Nancy - something else will come along. It always does. I sure hope so! LOL i want a cd rewrite and a digital camera There is always a better mousetrap yikes...martym...I don't know where I would put it...or in what puter! Hi Lady! And of course, it always goes on sale after you buy it! LOL Thanks Sue! :) isn't that the truth!! LOL glad I waited for the CD writer...they have really come down in price <&PALchat1> Yep... or they release the super deluxe model <&PALchat1> I'm gonna hold off on that til this Christmas. that's the thing that gets me with the programs...you no more than get it...and they have the bigger better one out! Does that work well - the CD writer? I know - now PUB 98 is out and I just got 97! Course, have the original. they work very well martym....we have friends that use them all the time <&PALchat1> And the upgrade prices are getting ridiculous... but we go on buying even tho it's still got the same old bugs... why do we do that? Do the CD writers have one standard now? I have to say...I also get programs from them...that I wouldn't get if it wasn't for the CD writer! shhhhhh...don't tell! LOL cause we are hopeful sue.....but it never chages er, changes We pay them for Beta testing their stuff! <&PALchat1> PUB 98. perfect example... $100 for the UPGRADE... HA! do you all have draw6? i do <&PALchat1> I do i refuse to upgrade to cac gold 2 though oh Sue...try the upgrades for things like Photoshop... me too I really like draw6 <&PALchat1> Why Pat? I am glad I upgraded to CAC gold 2. cause of the cost for the upgrade <&PALchat1> Me too Blu... been using it almost exclusively I love the graphis in CAC...but I don't use the program much I got a thing saying PUB 98 upgrade is $69.71 Sue. <&PALchat1> Mine was worth it for CAC Gold 2 I think <&PALchat1> Well the deluxe edition Publisher is $130 with a $30 rebate for competitive upgrade. I have the beta for windows 98...but don't dare put it in! LOL <&PALchat1> The non deluxe was $100 with $20 rebate. does anyone have the broderbund 200,000 collection? Yikes, deluxe edition? Haven't heard of that. <&PALchat1> I want that Pat! i'm still debating whether i should get it <&PALchat1> The deluxe edition has more clipart and comes with Picture It nope...but I have the Celebrations and Holidays...love that one! i have that too nancy.....love it :) Picture it...if you want to do killer calendars...and photo cards...is wonderful Sure.
