-------------------------------------- ICQ Chat Save file Started on Mon Mar 30 22:09:19 1998 -------------------------------------- Hi Barb...I'm here on time!! LOL dd is watching the basketball game, so I got here on time. I'll have to leave in an hour to put her to bed. Everyone have pa open? yep YEP yep yes yep yep Sure di yes yes yup right! Since there were no requests, I decided on a tri-fold card I have 3.0....does that metter. Great! what is a trifold? 3.0 is fine, except that there are no rulers in it. We'll guide you thru it Thanks A tri fold is a card that opens into three sections got it so guess this sign should be landscape It ends up fitting in a #10 business envy PA, sign, landscape oh oh that is long across right? easy to change Carol, pa, sign, new, landscape <&PALchat1> Right Bec It took me long enough to get her got it Just a refresher for those that were not here last wek. got it hey maggie Hi Maggy Ya done good Carol This is a big class! We'll be making just a template - no graphics. So to mark where graphics will go, we use the blank graphic Is there a better way to tile these two windows? I just have them both open and minimized. Resize them so that they are side-by-side <&PALchat1> To tile the windows it's best if you only have PA and the chat open... right click your taskbar and choose tile vertically. For those just joining, we are doing a tri-fold. You need pa, sign, new, landscape What is a blank graphic (dahhhh) it's a blue box with an x in it - in graphics, the name is blank that's a blue box....gggg Thanks. I never heard itcalled that. Let's begin. Go to insert, object, graphic. In the graphic grabber (gg), enter blank got it yup ok ok ok ok ok ok ok You should now have the blue box on your sign. Go to object, maximize. done ok ok ok k ok k Now, duplicate the box and maximize the new one - you should have 2 boxes, one on top of the other. Yes, Tim(dh) works for a company that had to plants down the road from each other. One plant closed and he was able to get this coomputer from the plant that closed down.I am going to lurk for a while, if you don't mind. duplicate? :Series Host: LiteraCCCy :Greeters~~~ :DanCCCer:Mar. 18 -- Barbara Park (Junie B. She makes progress only when she sticks :her neck out. ~~~~~ : : : : what happened hello? cross connection? OK looks like weird ok how do you duplicate? Can we back up to duplicating Control D got it or edit then duplicate That was reallllllly strange I got to 2 boxes on top--then what Then what the other is a little over edit - duplicate or control-d do we need a third one?? If both boxes are maximized, they should be exactly equal ok can't see the other one is that right? mine are right, Bec cool ok got it Finally made it on got it finish Now grab the side handle on the top box - either side, and drag about 1/3 toward the center. Repeat on the other side. 1/3? We're trying to get a box about i/3 the size of the whole ok 2 long boxes right? Is there a way to make this even? What happened to Barb? Good idea would that be to the 3 1/4 and the 7 1/4 marks Sara made it No, one is still masex, you're only dragging one box Where do you see these marks, Maggie? on the ruler If you're using 4.0, and using the rulers, you can measure like Maggie did. lost ah helps if I check ruler--thanks 3.0 doesn't have the ruler The X on the big box and the X on the small box should be lined up OK Mine aren't so the box we dragged should be centered? I'm not giving instructions just using the rulers for those with 3.0 i made it 3.5 and 7 lined up? You mean the centers? barb I have 2 long boxes did I do it wrong? Just max one box, Bec - leave the other one as is Everyone have the tow boxes now? ok did it thats two boxes yes got it up yup two boxes? I thought we were making thirds--did I miss something? Now duplicate the smaller box - make sure you don't dupe the large one, too ok and it's not easy with a mouse that won't cooperate with me yes Laura, we're getting to it! k No ruller but hope it's a good guess oh, sorry barb--I can't see everyone so I am a little confused What a pretty little pattern of blue lines! do we dupe one time or two? Now take the new box only, and line it up with the right edge og the big box Laura, click on IRC style in layout What about with 3.0? <&PALchat1> Ola... you ae on the BALL here... I have that but not everyone is coming in for some reason--thanks, Jamie. Ola, just one at a time ok got it i have to get a step ahead to make this mouse work!! Now repeat the last step, lining up with the left edge. Same thing with 3.0 Don't need a ruler, we're just lining up the edges k Is it ok if they overlap? k I think I am there I am logging this so I can try it later. For now, they might be overlapping - that's the next step So we are back to having one box? Is that what this is suppose to look like? ok ready Next, delete the big box, leaving 3 smaller long boxes Now wait a minute I have 2 small boxes and a big box Bec, you deleter the wrong one I have 3 little ones k ok will do another one got 3 Still here and following. k ok I have 3 now all done Hi everyone hi If they are overlapping, go to edit, select all, then move one side just a little do we put a little mark to show where to fold it? Ola, you're getting ahead of me again! sorry :) ola is anxiecious I got 3 boxes and all lined up with space in between is that right? i sure am help--I still don't have three boxes sorry...what are we making? If you had to resize due to overlapping, you might need to put the bix box up again to line the new sizes up. tri fold card ohhhhhh...ok..thanks Maggy! :) You don't want the boxes to be touching - leave about 1/4 inch between them got it mines not quite that much. Are they too close? To make sure they are all the same size, clikc on the corner of each box and check the dimensions at the bottom. I don't get it....what did we do after we got the 2 boxes maximized? Ola, are you using rulers? yeah Is it 1/4 inch on the ruler or 1/4 inch on the screen? Hello?? i'm not sure ---the position's off the edge of the window hi Vicki You want the ruler to show about 1/4 inch between the boxes. This will give you an area for the fold. think i got it now ola... go to view.. and click on fit in window Mi boxes are 3.2 x 8.0 I just eyed it Got it Neat ok got it When you're done, go to edit, select all, object, align vertical to get them all lined up is this for a tri fold in or an acordian? Help - can anyone see me? I feel like I missed something somewhere! This is a trifold Does it matter how we foldit? folded into the middle? To make a card, the box on the left is the front, the center is the inside left, and the right is the inside right k I see you, vicki thanks Barb Vicki, I have logged this session and if I did it right maybe I can send you a copy and you can read it from the beginning. Ok...I 'thought' I was here, but sure missed something somewhere I often glue the front and inside left together, makes it look like one of the "studio cards" that fit in the #10 envys Carol, would you also send one to me? I was trying to do 2 things at once. Carol... I would like to have a copy of this session too? Do you need my email addy? Looks good, Barb, you're a good teacher Thanks Barb! What about the tic marks? thanks Barb jflockerzi@mail.usachoice.net THanks! what tic marks? Yes to show where to make the fold Carol--my e-mail is spenstk@zeus.dsu.edu Just fold between the boxes, or borders when you get it designed Carol - mossman@ctos.com - Thanks! but the blank boxes don't print so I can't tell where to fold You will probably have to trim the edges ok are we going to do another one? You will have your graphics in there before you print - this is just the template if anyone has CAC there is a perfect graphic for a tri-fold...the flowers on the top and bottom...lines up great Yes please! Barb, I used the stuff we learned last week 3 times this week! How about 1/4 size note pads? great! cool Now yes please That sounds good Barb sure can we can we? Please? begging PALS.... Yup I am begging Save this one as trifold template, the open a new sign, portrait I could of used that before the notepad swap k okey dokey did that ok got it I love this thanks Barb for doing this Start like before, insert a blank, maximize it ok ok k k blank? how do you get a blank? k sorry...I'm late For those using 4.0 and rulers, drag a ruler line to the center, horizontal and vertical to divide the page in fourths. meeee too... late... barb.... is this on a landscape To get the blank, go to insert, graphic, and put blank in the graphics grabber. You get the blue box cool! Julie...sit in the late area with me! also known as LOST This is portrait We're just starting a new project, so jump in! i didn't know you can drag the ruler line!! <&PALchat1> Pals, I'm gonna have to go... early day tomorrow. If anyone saves the chat buffer, please e-mail me a copy to mesue@usa.net. Thanks! For those with 3.0, go to insert, basic shapes, thin line yeah thats cool bye Sue! :) Centerthe line across the center ofthe X. Then get another line, make it vertical, and put it across the center of the X Bye, Sue nite sue <&PALchat1> goodnight...have fun! Let me know when you have your page divided into fourths is the blank to me maxed Yes, Mag got it cool- ready k ok - k k ready got it ok k got it There are two ways to go from here, depending on how you are going to cut it. say I want vertical ones hopfully stright(gg) Never made one...whatever you think is best how's that??? ggg straight...your kidding? If you will take it someplace to have it cut, you can put the top of the notepad in the middle. If you cut it yourselg, you will want to put it on the outside what are wwe making anyways note pads Maggy notepads, Mag cool Top in the middle? ??? Barb.. say again? Also, it is easier to pad them before cutting, in which case you eant the tops to be on the outside edge ohhhhhh...good idea! Gotcha! ohh never thought of that I like that one...thanks Barb! Insert a blank graphic, and make it about 3" x 1/2" so the left and the right sides...will really be the tops of the notes...right? Or the top and bottom, depending on how you lay it out 3 x 1/2? About that - doesn't have to be exact oh a skinny blank?? for the header? Center that blank in the top left section Yup, the header ok have the skinny thing in one square got it k ok ok ok Now arroow it up almost to the top arrow up? Duplicate it, and align the two hightlight, and use the arrow to move it up now they're side by side right? how do you align again? to make it bigger ok got it Or just move it - To align, go to object, align vertical thanks! ok hmmm...won't let me You need both boxes check to alighn got it That puts them on top of each other? Make sure each box is centered at the top of each section ok...got it! vicki you are centering .. not align... look lower in OBJECT ok got it Vicki, I think you migh have alligned horizontal. You want them spaced, but side-by-side I can't get the align vert to come on under object Okay...got it! This is not to be centered on the page, but within the 1/4 section got it yup Sandi...do edit...then blank 2 little boxes, lined up, each centered within it's own section. click on one blu box... then hold down the shift key and click on the scecond blue box Got the blank and have it highlighted got it! Thanks Maggy! then go to object and click on align vertically now pick edit all blanks oops...or do like Maggy said! lol Thanks Maggie...didn't know you could do that When both boxes are ready, highlight both, go to object, group I didn't know you could align stuff like that!! Sooo cooll!! We teach more than template, Julie Awesome!!! Thanks, Barb didn't know that either! very cool I know... sorry I missed the first one... :( How can we highlight both boxes at the same time. click on one box, hold down the shift, and click on the next one this will save lots of scrap paper! lol Thanks...got it. got it too! Now duplicate the group, and move it to the bottom of the page You should have one group at the top, another at the bottom barb... question please yes? if those are headeres... Thanks Barb for allan do more than just watch. I tried rubber cement...wasn't real happy with it....ohh...tacky glue...good idea Bye Ola.. have a nice night a work. For those still here, align the two groups I use Aileenes tacky glue will try that...thanks! :) I work on Saturday day Thanks...I really enjoyed the lessons How do you do that? thanks, barb! If you want footers, duplicate again and put a group on either side of the center line. Sat's chat is about embelishments @ 12pm alaign the 2 groups Thanks, Barb! highlight both groups, go to object, align horizontal Is it possible to get the log from Sat.? sorry.. Ola... (you can have a nice day on Saturday then!) if you pad first...then you have to have them cut...right? thanks julie Do you know what the lesson will be Sat.? To finish these off, make sure the edges are very smooth. weight them down good, and brush the padding paste on them. Let dry, then cut. embelliments and I want to learn ok got it I also need the log from the notepad. I got a little lost. Is that it? Gotta run....thanks Barb for the lessons, enjoyed it. It's much neater looking it you take them to have them cut. nite Susieque you pad them first? I thought you cut them first? Thanks Barb, nite all sounds good Barb...I have made pads...but didn't think they turned out that well I pad them first, then have them cut. It's easier to pad that way. nite Ola Thanks Barb!
