Everyone
has a viewpoint right? Well this is a place
where
I give you a topic, my opinion on it, and
ask that
you give me your opinion, either agreeing,
or opposing.
If I feel that your comment has
relevance
to the issue, I'll post it on this page for all to see.
Let me
know what you think.
The October 16,2000 Topic is:
What is a "Biker"
I was in
a chat room this morning, and a guy comes in, and says and I quote
" I am
a biker, but I don't dress like a biker"
I tell
ya, that is an oxymoron. Makes not a damned bit of sence.
Just work
with me here, and I hope I don't offend anyone too much.
WHY IN
THE HELL DOES HE THINK WE CARE HOW HE DRESSES OR DEFINES "BIKERNESS"?
I mean,
what is he at that point?
More importantly,
what defines the "biker dress code"?
As I'm
writing this, I look down at my own clothes, and look over at Frank's clothes.
Frank is wearing nasty jeans, and a black T-shirt (with a pocket, for some
reason, it HAS to have a pocket) and black engineers boots. He is also wearing
a red bandanna, and a dragon earing. I am wearing black shorts, and
a black tank top. No shoes, no socks. I'm also wearing a bracelet made
from a primary chain, which obsessivly hits the keys when I type. All my
fingers but one have rings on them. One hand is silver, the other is gold.
Neither of us wear a watch. Frank doesn't wear one because he has the time
on his pager. I don't wear one because I don't care what time it is.
What would
you call our manner of dress?
Are we
bikers simply becasue we dress the part?
I mean,
I can dress up in a very conservative outfit, cover up my tats, and
look very respectable. But I am who I am, I still have a Harley out in
the garage, and I would still gladly hop on the back of it in my lil business
suit and heels. I got on the back of a Sportster in my wedding dress. Its
just part of my life.
There are
"yuppies" out there that own Harleys, and there are "biker types" out there
that have never been on one in their lives.
Do clothes
define who we are?
Let me know what you think

If
you prefer, the clothes we wear, will always make a statement, unfortunately,
it is the way the world projects our appearance, I dress differently than
my neighbor, or my father. I dress the way I dress, calling for the particular
situation, work, going out to party, but as a whole I'm a jeans and tea
shirt guy. My family accepts this, my old lady, has tried the yuppies stuff,
but it just doesn't go, at time among my family I feel like and outside,
all are conservative. I dress the way I do because I like it, I am comfortable,
and I like what I see in the mirror when I look, it's simple and easy.
Wear what you like and don't let the world govern it, or anyone else for
that matter.
