Here are some pictures from our trip to Bear Valley, March 30, 2001
Chuck gives snowmobiling instructions to Chris, Hannes, and Henrik. "OK, here's the throttlekeep it at full speed at all times :-)."
"Do we really need to bring our jackets? It's like 60 degreesput on some sun-screen!"
Jim from Bear Valley Snowmobile makes a "pre-rental" check-up for anything broken.
"OK, no damages. Go out there and have fun!"
Let's see who can jump the highest! Here's Chuck...
...and here's Chris..
... and here's Henrik (he definately get extra points for his style!)...
... and last, but not least, here's Hannes. Well done, guys!
Chris, ready to head down a pretty scary hillside. But he made it!
You can't really tell how steep this is by this picture, but it was very, very steep, take my word for it.
We're all ready to try to get down that scary hill now...
All survived the hillclimbing and now we're getting ready to set up the bbq!
"I had full speed down that hill!", "Well I was going sideways!"
Chuck and Chris
Jim and Gregg is setting up the buffet, Henrik and Lonny is watching.
Hannes is eating tri-tip, bean salad and all kinds of yummy foods. Cool table!
Gregg and Linda, who made all this happend! THANK YOU for this superb meal!
Time for more hill-climbing! If we thought the previous hill was steep... this one is a lot worse!!! But, I made it, as you can see (since I'm holding the camera!)
Pretty steep!
This is what it looks the other direction. We're on a ridge and right behind those bushes, it's steep again! No "chicken-route" down from this one... Keith is picking up speed to jump down (!) the hill.
Here's the edge he's going to jump off from...
Here's the audience, who thinks Keith is pretty cool! (To get an idea how high this mountain wall is, take a look a the two dots at the lower left hand side of the picture. One of them is me and my snowmobile. /HB)
And off he flyes!
OK, here he comes to jump UP the same hill...
This time he landed in a little bush...
While Keith is getting his snowmobile out from that bush, we can see Chuck at the top of the other really steep slope. He's that little dot right up left from the middle of the picture. Way cool, Chuck! You're my hero :-)
OK, time for Keith to try yet another set of jumpsfirst down then up...
This time he didn't hit the bush. You can see Keith's landing marks, and, by the way... those angeled marks at the very bottom of the picture is from Keith himself, who flew over the windshield and landed infront of his own snowmobile... then the snowmobile continued and almost ran him over...
... and the snowmobile kept going and going headed for the steep side on the other side of the ridge we were on!!!
It took 7 people and almost 30 minutes to get it out of the tree where it finally stopped.
Damage control... Donna wasn't too happy about Keith's "accident", but we all know he only did it to give the rest of us a great show :-)
All smiles, as you can see.
Good bye, from Hannes, Henrik, and Chris!
