Offers a shelter for battered women and their children. Women may live at the shelter for forty-five days. Case management, counseling, food, clothing, prescription medications, and assistance with transportation needs are provided. Limited rental assistance and client assistance funds are available.

Safeguard advocates are staffed daily in Courtroom 303W at 12:30 p.m. to provide further assistance regarding safety planning, support, information, and other forms of advocacy to battered women and their children. The advocates are available to assist persons who are filing a Temporary Restraining Order with any questions about the paperwork or process. At 1:20 p.m., the advocates conduct an orientation to all persons who have filed for a Temporary Restraining Order, explaining the civil process in obtaining the Temporary and Permanent Restraining Order, as well as enforcement of such orders.

Emergency and sexual assault shelter and counseling services are provided for victims of family violence in Douglas County. Services include a twenty-four hour crisis line; group and individual counseling for women, children, and families; and speakers and materials for community education.

Legal information and counseling are provided for victims of family violence. Counseling is provided by volunteer attorneys on divorce issues, restraining orders, court procedures, etc. Clinic hours are the first and third Wednesdays of every month from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. A daily restraining order clinic is available at the Jefferson County Courthouse.
