Crime Victims Compensation and Restitution

This unit provides direct services to victims of crime and processes claims for compensation for innocent victims who have been injured or killed as a result of a crime. The unit can pay for medical expenses, lost wages and/or the costs of funerals.

Restitution Program

If compensation benefits are paid on behalf of a victim, the Restitution Program attempts to recover the restitution owed by a defendant. The Restitution Program also collects reimbursement through subrogation. Subrogation occurs when a victim pursues redress through a civil action against the offender or other collateral source.
