University of Cardiff Provided part-time services as first line of support for students using university computer facilities. This involved diagnosing and, where possible, fixing both software and hardware problems. Included some support of VAX and UNIX systems as well as PCs and Macs on a network of approximately three dozen servers, scores of printers and hundreds of workstations. The main applications were word processors (MS Word, WordPerfect), spreadsheets (MS Excel), text-only email programs, telnet clients, gopher clients and NCSA Mosaic. Other problems were often resolved by altering user profiles. |
