

1. Identify Australian food habits and meal patterns, be able to explain origins behind them.
2. Recognize and explain similarities and differences between Australian culture and that of other nations.
3. Recognize and explain the multicultural nature of the Australian population and disuss its effects on our lives, eg. Foods available at supermarkets, restaurants, take away and fast foods, origins of foods eaten at home.
4. Conduct an interview with an immigrant to gather information on how their eating habits and lifestyle have changed since living in Australia. Be able to communicate information gathered from this interview to other class members.
5. Investigate in detail the food and culture of a chosen country. Present an interesting talk to fellow class members on this country. Be prepared to answer questions, See Work Requirement for particulars.
6. Work in a group to plan a selection of foods from that country. Compile recipes, food orders, provide a demonstration and supervise the class production of group's meal.
7. View videos and respond to questions on a selection of countries.
8. Demonstrate the use of cooking equipment peculiar to different countries. e.g. Pasta maker, wok, charn, chopsticks.
9. Research information via a range of sources e.g. CD-ROM, textbooks, brochures, magazines, journals, and personal interviews.
10. Display a sound knowledge of the food models and be able to apply them to a particular situation ie. Designing a balanced meal, evaluating the diet of different nationalities.
11. Discuss the food habits and health of particular nationalities and give strategies to meet their needs e.g. Koories, Greek, Italian, Asian and Third World Countries.
12. Identify the health and heating habits of a variety of cultures. · Prepare, cook and serve a variety of international foods.
13. Discuss the multicultural nature of the Australian population and its effects upon our lives.
