Master of Social Work ( MSW )
Being a professional course, the curriculum of MSW consists of exposure visits, fieldwork practicum, rural camps, study tours, seminars, dissertation, block placement training etc in addition to the regular theory classes.
The MSW program is of two years duration organized in four semesters with specializations in the following ,
Medical and Psychiatric Social Work
Rural and Urban Community Development
There are six papers each, in the first and second semesters.In the third semester there are four common papers and two electives. In the forth semester there are three common papers and two electives apart from a project work. The concurrent field work is an integral part of all semesters. The students also undergo a block placement training for duration of not less than four weeks.

Professional social workers are employed in a variety of settings. They are usually placed in community development organizations, social welfare agencies, central and state welfare centres, hospitals, correctional settings, family counseling centres, child health programs, mental health settings, industries, colleges and universities, research projects, national and international organizations including funding agencies etc.
