Andy has loved sports all his life and whenever he's not in the recording studio, out on tour, or appearing on TV specials, you'll usually find him participating in a water sport. He loves getting up at dawn to spend the whole day fishing. (Some of his best songs were written while he was holding a fishing rod in the other hand!) Scuba diving is another sport Andy loves. Breezing along beautiful Biscayne Bay in a sleek red speedboat is also a passion of Andy's.
Andy's always loved the thrill of speed. Horseback riding and motorcycles have always turned him on and now he's found a new thrill - soaring high above the water on a parachute while a speedboat pulls him along!
Of course, Andy's into more down-to-earth sports, too, like tennis and soccer.
Is Andy a sports nut? He does enjoy watching games on TV as well as participating whenever he can. Friends say he jumped at the chance to compete in the “Us Again the Word Celebrity Sports Tourney” last year. He was placed on the British team headed by Marty Feldman and competed in various sports events along with other stars such as Twiggy, Susan George, Roger Daltrey and Olivia Hussey. Andy's team didn't do too well . . . they came in last! But he did make some new friends and had a ball.
Andy also appeared on All Star Anything Goes which is a zanier version of the celebrity sports competitions. He had so much fun trying all those goofy stunts, he hardly stopped smiling the whole time! Of course, having Barbi Benton as a teammate helped keep his spirits high, too!
Andy is one of the most wholesome and sexy stars to hit the scene in a long time. He's really sexy, but in a natural, healthy way. His active participation in so many sports helps keep him looking fit and feeling healthy. He also has the right attitude about sports. He does his best and believes in teamwork, but if he doesn't come out a winner, Andy is never a sore loser. Sports is just for fun and fitness and Andy is always a good sport knowing it's how you play the game that counts, not whether you win or lose!
