Village Green Software

About Village Green Software.

Village Green Software for the purpose of this website is Jan Hilbrand Brink. I can be reached at [email protected]. I am a civil servant, working (!?) for the Dutch government in a full time job, so there isn't that much time left for upgrading this site.

At the moment I am 41 years old and for a long time have been interested in (home-) computers. It started with the Sinclair ZX 80 my brother bought in the year 1980 and went from there to the ZX 81 and ZX Spectrum, BBC B (my brother's), Atari ST+ and Atari Mega ST. When the PC was at the stage where there was a 286 processor inside (AT), my brother converted to the PC and when the 386 came out I did too, after 486 and Pentium we both have now Pentium II's at home.

Apart from my interest in computers I love (steam-) trains and specially those in Switzerland. All of what you will find on this site is photographed by me on the different trips I made in pursuit of (steam-) trains.

This site was started for the sole purpose of learning to write HTML-code by hand. As this is very timeconsuming there is not much spare time left to scan more pictures. A secundary purpose emerged while I was thinking of a good reason to make a website. It became my other main interest in life: Trains in Switzerland. That is why the heading in the main menu that gets you to the picture index is called: Switzerland as seen by an enthousiast. I already started to code some pages when a book came out that had an index I fell immidiatly in love with. The index got recoded right away.

The name Village Green Software (VGS for short) is adopted by my brother and me to give our ventures into the computerworld an easy to remember name. But it is not a company (-name), it is just two brothers who thought it up for fun. I also would like to stress, that I am not seeking work in the internet- or the computer- industry.
