The Fontana di Trevi
depicts Neptune, god of the sea, flanked by two Triton figures—one
struggling to subdue a seahorse,
one having conquered
it. In mythology, the merman Triton was the son of Neptune and his
sea-goddess wife.
Greek Literature
has existed from the 8th century BC and
is still extant even to the present day. This literature developed as a
national expression with little outside influence until 4th to 1st century
BC and it had a formative effect upon all succeeding European literature.

Greek Mythology is
constituted by the beliefs and ritual observances of the ancient Greeks,
who became the first western civilization about 2000 BC. It consists mainly
of diverse stories and legends about a variety of gods. It's predominance
in English Literature is undeniable.
Greek Philosophy
embodies the philosophical concepts developed
by the Greeks. Greek philosophy formed the basis of all later philosophical
speculation in the Western world. Many of the moral ideas of pagan Greek
philosophers have been incorporated into Christian moral doctrine. The
political ideas set forth by Greek thinkers influenced political leaders
as different as members of the U.S Constitution.
