Dwarves
Dwarves are short stocky people whom to most seem to be dour and Taciturn. They are strong and brave and care little for most humor. They have a major love for precious metal and prize gems, and are unfond of Elves. Dwarves live an hilly and mountainous regions and like to live thre life in the gloom and solidness that is found in the underground. By nature Dwarves are nonmagical creature therefore are unable to be of classes described in the Magic class section.
Due to the toughness of the life they live Dwarves have a high Stamina rating, while on the downfall they lack in overall beauty.
They can smell mineral deposites such as gold, silver and numerous other things through 10 ft of earth if actually trying to locate it 2 ft otherwise.
A lifetime of dwelling beneath and within the earth has altered their body chemistry in subtle ways. First, a dwarf's eyesight is poor, due to the lack of light underground. This does not mean that their vision is limited in depth, only in texture. Subtle shades and color differences are lost to them, and this tints their world view as well, and is one of the many (many, many) reasons they are renowned for their stubbornness. Also, again due to their affinity with earth, they can smell large amounts of precious metals and gems. They are known as the world's best craftsmen of weapons and armor and, indeed, most things metal and stone, and everything that they craft is a work of art.
Unfortunately, dwarves are not the most social of beings and do not usually deal with strangers, whichtends to prevent outsiders from seeing the works that these craftsmen produce and gives them a reputation for being dour and taciturn.
Elves are the lithe, slender descendants of the fae of myth and legend. At home in the natural world and very much a part thereof, they live and dance between this world and dreams, able to see perfectly by the light of even a single star. Indeed, so light and quick are they, that they are often likened to the cats whose eyes they share. Though they are not the strongest of folks physically, they more than make up for this lack with their supreme grace and beauty and feet which can always find purchase.
As people of the hunt, they are masters of ranged weapons and
tend to not use weapons such as swords, preferring instead bows
or spears and the advantages of distance that come therewith.
Mysterious in their own right, not very much is known about their
society save the fact that their life spans exceed that of all
other known races; indeed, it is whispered that an elf cannot die
of natural causes. One reason for this, perhaps, is that they
seem to have the ability to cease aging, for when they reach an
age they like, their outward form no longer suffers the ravages
of time. The same stories that speak of this, though, and speak
of the beginnings of these tall, enigmatic beings, also speak of
a place removed from this world to which the Fair Ones retire
when they tire of this world.
Heindrith are known to most as simply "giant-kin" because of the fact that they are descended from the primal giants that once walked the northlands. Smaller by far than their ancestors, these folk reach between seven and eight feet in height and are possessed of nearly immeasurable strength and stamina, if the stories are to be believed, anyway. Because of their additional size Heindrith characters start with 5 additional health levels.
Never let it be said that these giant-kin are stupid, indeed, they seem to posses a wealth of knowledge. . The recent rebirth of past mysteries has brought these gentlefolk from their wandering life-style to more settled way, that they are not left behind and forgotten as the rest of the world grows and changes. Some still maintain their roots as nomads, but these are less common than those whom have begun to migrate to the cities.
Humans comprise the most numerous of all the races and live pretty much everywhere and are able to live in those places where they are not yet, if only they wanted to. They lead fast-paced, transient lives, flitting from idea to idea and sparking a wildfire of change wherever they go.
Their intense lifestyle is induced, perhaps, by their relatively short life spans, at least when compared to the other beings with which they share the earth, living only about seventy years or so before their spirits return to the Source.
