Left Behind
You approached me,
Full of compliments
Leading me down your primrose path.
The one I vowed never to walk.
Once after tasting the night air
And drinking it's intoxicating juices
wanting another
I sent a message to you,
Not thinking
Not thinking at all.
You sent a message in return
Imploring me to come to you,
In the night.
I resisted yet sailed quickly
To the harbor of your arms.
We sat awkwardly
You leaning on my arm
Until your lips met mine
Our tongues entangled
Smoke, then spark,
Then a fire burning out of control,
not be extinguished easily.
Your hands touched me
Explored my body
Every nook and cranny
You found the heat
you stoked the flame further,
Until the choice was no longer mine.
Our bodies took flight
Reaching heights of pleasure
I never knew possible.
face and arms tingling
Like one million lightning strikes to the earth
during a summer storm.
One last walk
Your path of blue and black stepping stones,
Led you where you wanted to go.
To get what you wanted to get.
Your hands and mouth explored the garden
smelling the flowers,
ripping up the weeds,
in a painful attempt
to make me see and feel the pleasure
of the beauty that lived there.
You asked who could ever leave me.
Now you know.
Anguish and relief
Two contrary emotions,
I feel as one.
Left behind
My fickle lover.
Head so easily turned
Who might she be?
