"Barbara's Song"

Background

This was the very first song I ever wrote. I started it when I was about 13, and added a couple extra pieces when I was 16. It was always just a bluesy piano song, and my little sister Barbara used to love listening to me play it. It never had a name until I christened it "Barbara's Song" for my album.

Instrumentation

Nothing but piano - Alan started the recorder, I played to the end of the song, and Alan stopped the recorder.

Behind the Scenes

Alan spent a couple hours miking the piano for this song (and another song I would do during the same session). Pianos are hard to effectively record, especially if you're trying to get a good stereo effect, but the sound was superb for this session (thanks to Alan's wizardry).
