Background
The new Crumar Orchestrator keyboard I got in 1979 had a brass setting that allowed you to use a type of "wah-wah" pedal, and that was the idea for the beginning of this song. The main melody line always gave me the image of a white knight riding up on horseback to save the day, which is how I came up with the title.
Instrumentation
Tom Scott was a fantastic local drummer during the 70's (and beyond), and his drum work in this song is nothing short of amazing.
Behind the Scenes
My finger slip on one of the keyboards during the recording session produced a perfect grace note effect on the third verse melody line, and I've kept that note in the song ever since.
