Background
Another song with teenage lyrics and lead vocal, this song is the typical "my true love left me and I don't think I'll ever fall in love again" song. I wrote it during that kind of period in my life (I was a teenager), and my kid sister said it was the best thing I'd ever written to that point.
Instrumentation
The bass line was done with an electronic keyboard I set to give a 'rubber band' type of sound. The background vocals were by three young ladies I happened to know who had never sang together before, but their different vocal qualities produced the background texture I was looking for.
Behind the Scenes
The string sounds were done with a Crumar Orchestrator, and it was tuned just slightly flat, which gave the song a more sad and depressing sound.
