RE Movie Update -thanks to Neverhoodman

After weeks of speculation and rumours details are finally emerging about the long awaited resident evil movie. The movie is being shot in a mansion in England and has been written by Andrew Kevin Walker. Originally George Romero wrote a script for the movie but it was rejected by Capcom as it was not 'Resident Evilly' enough! This is very interesting considering the current details of the movie. There will be no Umbrella Corporation and no STARS. Instead a squad called Red Queen is called to the mansion to investigate an accident in the laboratory, which has turned the scientists into zombies. They become trapped in the house, as in the game and they then have to fight their way through the house. While this is not good news for hardcore resident evil fans I guess we will have to wait and see if the movie is any good.

Hot Off The Press

At the Second Annual Gamers Day in Las Vegas Capcom announced that Resident Evil 4 is currently under developement in Japan, ready for release in early 2002. The game will be released on multiple systems but only PS2 seems to be confirmed at the moment. The story will pick up from the events of Resident Evil 3 Nemesis. Also at the show, Microsoft revealed their X Box console.

Nemises For DC

Resident Evil Nemesis has now been ported to Dreamcast and is due for release in the UK on 16th of December. Hopefully this will also be the release date for the PC version as it was supposed to be released for PC over here in September but still doesnt appear to be out yet. (Hence leading to the delay in construction of my sites Nemesis section :( so fingers crossed.)

Zero Hour On Nintendos Game Cube

Confirmed this month that Resident Evil Zero will be coming to Nintendos next console. I also found out that Nintendos new console is named Game Cube after the console had been code-named Dolphin for many months

Resident Evil Nemesis New Release Date

After weeks of waiting and confusion I have finally learned this month that Nemesis will be unleashed on to PC in the UK in September which means I can then start work on the Resident Evil Nemesis site section (joy!!).

Resident Evil Zero For Dolphin

Following the recent scrapping of Resident Evil Zero Hour for the N64 current rumours are circulating that the game is now in development for the Nintendos next generation console -Dolphin.

Other Next Gen Consoles Join Zombie Bandwagon

I have also learned of Capcoms plans for the series on the other next generation consoles this month. The sequel to Code Veronica on the Dreamcast and a Playstation 2 instalment of the series are in development. Also Capcom have been approached by Microsoft to publish Code Veronica on their new 'X Box' console. There are also rumours that Microsoft are pushing for their own console exclusive instalment of the series to be developed.

Code Veronica Extra Info

This month I have finally seen the opening fmv sequence to Code Veronica on the DC. As expected it looks stunning even more so than the ones in previous outings. The sequence shows Claire infiltrating Umbrellas secret Paris base in search of her brother and involves a thrilling escape from a helicopter chase and an explosive end to the fmv as Claire skilfully avoids being captured by the Umbrella security.

More News On Resi Zero

This month I found more out about this N64 exclusive title. The game is set before the original game and one of the playable characters is apparently Rebecca Chambers from the original game. Don't know much else other than some sections of the game take place on an abandoned train.

Resi 3 For Your PC

News just in Capcom are planning to release their latest horror epic on PC in the UK around June/July time. This gives you around a month to save up for this must buy game which follows Jill Valentines story after the events of the original and before and after the sequel.

February 2000

Sega To Code Veronica

First news this month is that Capcom have left the coding of Resident Evil Code Veronica in the capable hands of Segas own development team. The reason for this is because Capcoms own developers have their hands full finishing off Resi 3 for Playstation and numerous other Capcom titles in the works.

Resident Evil On Gameboy!

Lots of news this month. I have discovered that Capcom is planning to make a Gameboy version of the original Resident Evil. Having seen some screenshots myself I can tell you it looks virtually the same as the original game except in 2D (and a lot less scarier!!)

Exclusive Resi Game For N64

Apparently Capcom are developing an N64 exclusive Resident Evil game presently entitled Resident Evil Zero. This is bound to be a real treat for N64 owners but will be a disappointment for fans on other consoles. It is unclear whether it will come out on PC like many other exclusive games have done in the past ("Playstation exclusive" Tomb Raider 2 is a good example on the PC). Not much known about story line yet will let you now in the future.

Gun Survivor Is Coming

For those of you who don't know about this title, Resident Evil Gun Survivor is Capcoms latest instalment in the series. What makes this game unique to all the other games is that it is a first person 3D shooter and you can play it with a gun. Fans of gun games should take notice of this one as it promises to be a very scary outing for the series. Especially the fact that you cant see zombies sneaking up behind you should make it particularly exciting and a nerve twitching experience. Expect this one around March/April on Playstation.

Code Veronica Delayed On DC But Resi 2 Released As Consolation

This month Capcom announced that Resident Evil Code Veronica for the Dreamcast will be delayed further as development is running behind schedule. It is unknown just how long the delay will be, however to keep DC owners happy in the mean time they will be releasing Resident Evil 2 on the Dreamcast very soon after porting over the PC version. This was possible because of the DCs flexibility for porting PC games meaning that a port over to the console was very quick and easy. DC owners expect Resi 2 to come your way soon.
