Forgiveness

When you walked away today
Out of my world,
You didn't leave.
Not from my thoughts.
When you were hurting today,
I didn't know what to say.
It seemed that every word
Stumbling from my mouth
Pierced you even more deeply
Every emotion I tried to express
Came out wrong
And I'm sorry, I'm sorry
For the things I cannot help.
When you left today,
I couldn't stop thinking
That I had misled you somehow,
That I had done you this great wrong.
So all I can ask of you
Is your forgiveness...
