Sands
Sand streams around my ankles,
Filling the world with sandy brown hair
Sweet startling brown eyes
Sand streams with faded blossoms, dried,
Faded, tattered, long gone
Fluttering red on the sand
Grains and petals dropping to earth
Around my bare feet.
Blind for moments,
Surfacing to pure delight, sunken lights
Scented summer night and treasures hidden
Deep in unfamiliarity's embrace
Sinking depths every moment
Down, down into vast brown eyes
Wrapped about in watery arms
Secure in night, dusk's blossoms
Dropping to the dry sand at my feet.
Trembling caress of soft heat, soft dry summer
Warming to touch, to thought,
To sudden proximity and sudden distance
Distance more sudden swallowing whole
Summer blossom, summer thought, summer night
Dropping petals, grains of essence,
To my feet, around my bare feet.
