Sunday at Eight

Crisp September air like fine elixir
    happiness bubbling through
Splashing in the water
    sinking down, down
Sinkers and hooks and feathers, squishy rubber worms
Reels and smiles and tennis shoes
Crickets and daddy, take it off the hook for me
    shoes thudding hollow on the dock
Finally excitement bobbing in the water
    splashing through
Excitement on the hook
    To be reeled in quickly
    And savored over supper.
