A Prayer for Sunsets

Lord,
    thank you for making evenings beautiful.
Thank you for making sunsets as well as sunrises.
Thank you for starlight, and moonlight, and fireflies.
Thank you for cool night air
    and long, dew-laden grass.
Thank you for the evening star,
    the way it sits amidst the brilliance of the sun's
    goodbye.
Thank you for the knowledge that the sun will
    Reappear in the morning.
Thank you, most of all, for making evenings beautiful.
