This set is the fourth in the OKP Birthstone series. On a recent trip to Gatlinburg, Tennessee, we stopped by a tourist-trap gem mining operation and panned for semi-precious gemstones. Garnets in the rough look like... well, to be honest they look like rocks. So it's no surprise that most people throw them out with the rest of the worthless rocks. When garnets are cut, however, they look just like the garnets set here. They are a much deeper red than rubies, and though they can look almost black, if you turn them in the light they show hidden sparkle and beauty. Much like the New Year's baby I had in mind designing this set...
You can right-click on the graphics to download them, but I recommend that you get the zip file here. It includes several garnet goodies not shown here, including bars and buttons.
Font: Zapf Calligraphic 801 SWA
Hex: B92820I've also decided to start adding the hex codes of the font colors I use on these pages. If you'd like to know anything else about how I construct my pages, please feel free to look at the html source code. (Use your browser's menu to View Source.) How do I come up with these hex codes? I use Paint Shop Pro's eyedropper tool to pick a color out of the graphics that will fit in well with the theme as a whole.
