My Opinions - on just about everything! About.com About.com is a great way to find information on almost anything. I get several different newsletters from them, and the Guides are almost always extremely knowledgeable about their subjects. Anime Anime is great. Maybe I was just cartoon-deprived as a kid, but I love it.. Good music, good plots, good characters and good animation combine to form shows and movies that are just amazing. I won't bother to go much further into it here because I'll be typing for the next two days, but I'll put some more info up soon in case you have absolutely no idea what I'm talking about. So far, my favorite animes are Magic Knights Rayearth, Martian Successor Nadesico and El Hazard. AOL With AOL 6.0, you can now check your e-mail AND surf the web! Oooooooooo....wow..... Ya know, there's a reason it's nicknamed AOHell. Britney Spears She was o.k. until she tried to grow up waaaay too fast. Now she's just another wannabe with too many implants. Boy Bands Every time I see 'N Sync, I get deja vu. Remember New Kids on the Block? At any rate, I like some boy-band music, but I have a hard time buying into the hype. Celine Dion One of the few American stars out there that's beautiful, and talented, and bilingual. Her French songs are as pretty as her English ones. Chat (as in online) ICQ is my link to the outside world from my spot in the backwoods. Hey, it's also how I learned to type. If you are a two-fingered typist, go download a chat program and watch your typing skills improve! Alamak.com is the best web-based chat I've found. They even have a roleplaying room. I have ICQ, AOL Instant Messenger, and Yahoo! Messenger, but my favorite by far is ICQ. If you ever want to chat with me, just go to my Contact page. Cold I HATE being cold. 'Nuff said. Dial-Up Internet Connections If you have to use one, great. Just don't spoil yourself with a LAN and then try to go back. *shivers* I thank God for the college network connection that allows me decent access speed, great download times and Everquest. Evanescence This Arkansas band has a rather unique sound that combines a lot of styles. If you're lucky, you can find their song "Imaginary" on Napster. They haven't been nationally promoted yet, but they sure deserve it! Check them out if you get the chance. EverQuest I finally gave in and bought it. It was only $30, after all. (And the monthly server fee isn't too bad even on my limited budget.) Then I played. And played. And played. If you have a life, this is no game for you. There's an extremely good reason why it's called EverCrack by the people who play it. The graphics quality and game system are GREAT! It's just so....addictive... oh sorry, I have to run now. I told these people I'd group up with them and I really want to get in a level tonight... Idrive.com When I signed up for idrive, I thought it offered quite a bit of space. Either I was mistaken, or they've since limited users to 50 mb per account. The nice thing about idrive is their "idrive on your desktop," which essentially acts like any other folder on your desktop. The drawback is that it tends to lock up my PC when I use it that way. You win some, you lose some. James Taylor One of the best singers of all time, ever! Go listen to "Frozen Man" and "Fire and Rain" and see if you agree! Japanese Music Japanese pop music, or j-pop, is good to listen to if you're working on something else. Anime soundtracks are great for this too. It's good music, but not too distracting, because most of the words are in Japanese. Unless you just happen to know Japanese, having songs with good beats but unobtrusive lyrics is good for working on homework or web design. Magic: The Gathering A hobby that I spend way too much time on. :) Some of the artwork is just spectacular. That's how I got into it, and I remain much more of a collector than a player. Mornings Some people work well in the mornings. I'm not one of them. I don't function until after 11 a.m. Myspace.com This site has one good point, and several very bad ones. Good point: 300 mb of space, and no file size limits on uploads, so you can store whatever you want. Bad point: hard to sign up for. Bad point 2: hard to sign up for. (It deserved two points!) Bad point 3: frustrating to use. At least it doesn't rename your files for you like mp3.com does. Napster Napster is a gift from God! :) Yes, I can see both sides of the debate - if I were with a record label I certainly wouldnt want to be losing money. But if I weren't downloading from Napster, I'd be taping it off the radio. Procrastination There was something I was going to write, something witty and interesting about how much I procrastinate. What was it? Should have written it down. Oh well. I'll probably think of it tomorrow... Tomatoes Did you know that in medieval times, people thought tomatoes were poisonous? Shoulda left it that way. Eww. Utada Hikaru A J-pop star who looks about 10 years old but can really sing. Her song "First Love" is just ...amazing, as is the video which goes with it. |
