Giants kick start defence with super win!

Julius Joseph produced a 29 point display to become top scorer for the Giants

Giants 93 - 74 Riders
Despite a slow start the Giants only took one quarter to get comfortable with each other.

After Martin Gottfried scored the first basket of the BBL 2000/01 season, the Giants trailed by 10 points for most of the first quarter. As each minute passed the team gelled together and one man stood out the most.

As the Giants stepped up their game they picked up a healthy lead after a shakey start and held onto a ten point lead for most of the game. With excellent rebounding coming from Brendan Graves and Tony Holley, the game was run by Brian Earl, with Martin Gottfried adding a lot of good quality points and assists plus the bonus of Antrick Klaiber giving some strength off the bench, but

leaving the best till last, Julius Joseph let everyone know who's boss by scoring 29 points and accepting the challenge of filling Tony Dorsey's boots.

As the team settled into the game it became clear that this was special. Throughout the game the Giants showed some very stylish plays and seemed a lot more organised than last years team did a year ago.

The Giants who are 3/1 to regain their championship couldn't have started the season any better.
