"It's
unfortunate that Wayman has had to leave so suddenly. However, these things can't be
controlled and he felt it was more important to be with his family at this time,"
said Giants' General Manager, Nick Montgomery. "We fully respect his decision and we
wish he and his family well." With
Strickland back home, the Giants luck, with regard to completing their squad, continues to
be plagued and Coach Andre Alleyne is considering replacement options as a matter of
urgency.
"Following the change over of
management in August, we have had to hit the floor running, to catch up with the rest of
the league, so the problems we have experienced are hitting us a little later than
usual," stated Coach Alleyne. "We have a number of options in mind and we will
be back to a full squad in no time."
Further upset at the Giants has
manifested itself in the form of injuries to three leading players - Julius Joseph, Martin
Gottfried and Teva Johnson - all of which are unlikely to be available for Friday's (3
Nov) game against Newcastle Eagles at the Telewest Arena in Newcastle.
Coach Alleyne added, "This game will
be interesting, the Eagles are a good side and with the injuries we have it is going to be
tough. Despite that, I have every confidence we can overcome our difficulties and get the
result we want."
