Fake Error!
This will create a fake DOS-style error window. It's not real.
This text is being overlaped by the fake error window. This is a lot of text. Testing, testing, 123! This is underneath a layer! Hello World! ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ now I know my ABC's! This is under a layer. This is so cool! Here is some stuff I scribbled Hello elder for C++ animals not cool read red reed grope gripe stripe gamma gap tooth joy stinky smelly nasty
FATAL ERROR x1023 - SYSTEM SHUTDOWN
orig left 125
Shutdown
When you click "Shutdown", it brings you to the "You fell for it!" page. You could see some text underneath the layer, wich makes it more like a window than just graphics or HTML.
I got the idea for thishere.
I am worknig on a fake error layer that is more Win98-like or more OS9-like. Layers are great! They are really cool. But they do worry me. If someone could create a page using CGI, JavaScript, layers, and other DHTML that created a real or very-lifelike window determined by the OS, being innocent or a fake fatal error, and then they used an Active-X hole or something to make it REALLY shut down the computer, that would be terrible! Many people have come close to this. For example:
Virtual Windows 95 page using lots of JavaScript and DHTML
OS determination
Shuttng down your computer with Active-X security holes
FIle browsing
I probably could create a fairly real-looking Win98 layer to look like an error window, and create an annoying little bug in it. I'm afraid of telling it because someone could use it. I hate bugs!
