Fairy tale entrance replaces traditional transportation

Turning heads is one of the things junior Beth Foster does best. Her latest surprising act was when she arrived at the junior prom on horseback. The prom was held at King’s Caterers on March 31.

Foster and her date Dan Quirk rode Foster’s horse from Roller-rama all the way to King’s Caterers.

“It was a little shaky because the blanket we were sitting on was slippery, but we made it alright,” said Foster. “I had been planning this forever, ever since I was a little girl I have wanted to go to the prom on my horse.”

Foster was not the only one to arrive in style at the beginning of the prom.
Junior Michelle Disilva and her date Harry Tyre glided down the rode on scooters decorated with colorful ribbon.

Amidst the limos and unique cars they pulled up to the prom, and everyone outside applauded their arrival.

The majority of people surveyed thought odd ways to get to the prom were a pretty good idea. Out of twenty people 14 thought it was cool to arrive in a unique way. Senior Laurie Keenan said “Its just for fun, its not cool or stupid.”

Transportation to the prom can be extremely costly, but there are much cheaper ways to make a unique first impression. Some of the cheaper, more original ways people came up with were in wheelbarrows, on stilts, or just decorate your own car extra special.

Many people would like to come on the back of an exotic animal such as a giraffe or an elephant.

“If you have money to get to the prom in a cool way, go for it, and make a memorable appearance, because that is what the prom is all about, creating memories,” stated junior Briana Schott.

But getting to the prom is only part of the events that will take place on prom night. No matter how one gets to the prom, the night should be filled with exitement, even if you do show up on a horse.
