Junior Prom proved truly "wonderful" night

On Saturday, March 31st at King’s Caterers II in Bristol, from 6p.m. to 10:30 p.m., the juniors attended the prom. “Wonderful Tonight” filled the atmosphere while everyone looked their best and was on their best behavior.

The junior class officers Rachael Horne, Lindsay Jones, Tori Mecleary and Sara Ott arranged this memorable night for the juniors with a little help from the junior class advisor, Gina Girotti. The prom was an overall success. “Everyone looked wonderful and acted mature and responsible,” Girotti said.

The class officers and their peers thought up the theme for the big night. “The officers asked some of their friends about some suggestions for the prom.” stated Girotti. The five best suggestions were given to the entire junior class to vote on. The end result was “Wonderful Tonight” by Eric Clapton.

A total of 624 students attended the prom along with 30 chaperones. There was no limit on the number of students that could attend. “It’s not fair to tell them sorry you can’t come. You don’t want students to feel cheated out on a special night,” Girotti said. However there were some restrictions upon attending the prom. You could not have more than 10 absences and no more than one “F” in the second marking period.

When the night arrived students came in limos, sports cars, scooters and on horseback. No matter what type of transportation, they all attended for one specific purpose: to have fun. “ I am so glad with the outcome of the junior prom and the number of juniors that attended,” said junior class officer Lindsay Jones.

The night flew by for those who attended. After dinner the dance floor was completely crowded with people. The hours flew by like minutes and before you knew it the night was over. “It doesn’t feel like it should have been over so quickly,” Jones said.

Next year the sophomores have a prom to look forward to. Hopefully theirs’ will have the same effect that it had on the juniors. Girotti offers some advice for those who will attend next year, “ Make sure you arrive at the prom on time so you can enjoy every moment of this once in a life time evening.”
