| This is Queen at their best. Their
live condition is on the top (althoug Freddie can't sing
as high as he used to sing) and the occasion is nicely
filmed. The setlist is based mainly on "Greatest
hits"- material, but if you've got bored to
listening them, don't worry, they sound great when
performed live. One Vision is much harder and Roger's
harmonies are prominent, so is the case withTie Your
Mother Down. In the Lap of The Gods and Seven Seas of
Rhye are newer editions of their old gems. Then follows a
cavalcade of hits from 80's until Roger and John leave
the stage and Brian plays his 12-string acoustic guitar
and Freddie sings Is This the World We Created. A nice
version of Tutti Frutti follows: first Roger on
tambourine, John with bass and Brian with acoustic
guitar, and then they all run for their "real"
instruments and turn the song into a hard-rock version,
very nice indeed! Then Bohemian Rhapsody and a long
version of Hammer to Fall with an everlasting solo
section (Spike Edney on rythm guitar). Freddie plays
acoustic guitar on Crazy Little Thing Called Love
(altough he really couldn't play more than the required 4
chords with that!) After that Queen leaves the stage and
returns for an encore, which begins with Radio Ga Ga. The
concert itself is a very good one, but video does not
make full justice to it, because it's so heavily edited
(no Tear it up, no Brighton rock-guitar solo, nor Now I'm
here) so I recommend you to consider the CD-version of
the WHOLE concert or the Live in Budapest
-video, which is a concert from same tour, but with a
complete setlist! |
