Network Associates Adds Enterprise Muscle to PGP Encryption Software With Support for NT, UNIX and Mainframe E-Commerce ServersPGP Command Line Edition Enables Easy End-to-End Security for Automated E-Commerce Batch Processing Applications NETWORLD + INTEROP, LAS VEGAS, May 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Network Associates, Inc. (Nasdaq: NETA) today announced the immediate availability of PGP Command Line Edition, a powerful extension to its popular PGP data security product line. The new PGP Command Line Edition allows enterprise customers to easily secure automated enterprise-class e-commerce applications and batch processes using the PGP strong encryption and authentication technology to ensure complete end-to-end security. PGP Command Line Edition is available today for Windows NT, Solaris and Linux servers with MVS mainframe support expected early this summer. Manufacturing companies, for example, can now easily secure the process of electronically ordering parts from suppliers, accepting and processing customer orders and managing inventory. Financial institutions, likewise, can secure the process of electronically receiving customer transactions from branch offices, processing those transactions, and storing customer account information. At each step of the process, simple command line calls to the PGP product ensure that all information is processed, transmitted and stored using PGP's strong encryption and authentication. The simple design of PGP Command Line Edition allows customers to quickly integrate with a wide variety of existing e-commerce applications and processes, even across multiple NT, Unix and mainframe operating systems. The new PGP Command Line Edition extends the capabilities of the PGP product to automated "batch processes" through the use of common high level scripting languages such as Visual Basic and Perl. As a result, customers can now easily incorporate the PGP leading strong encryption and authentication technology directly into mission-critical e-commerce processes across a wide range of database servers, web servers, ftp servers, business applications and client programs. PGP Command Line Edition can be used to secure entirely new batch processes or easily integrated into existing e-commerce applications and processes without requiring complex programming or expensive customization. "The new PGP Command Line Product for Batch Servers has expanded our capability to store and transport confidential personal and financial data with confidence because the data is encrypted and authenticated," said Michael Martin, Client/Server Specialist at Sallie Mae. "This adds a new dimension to our business. The PGP security enables us to expand our business to clients who use the Internet as their means of gathering account information and perform financial transactions." Other typical uses of PGP Command Line Edition include:
"PGP Command Line Edition allows companies across all vertical industries to easily automate e-commerce processes without compromising security at any stage," said Mona Doss, senior product marketing manager for Network Associates.
