What To Do With The Blasted Thing

The Tandy sitting idle...

Well, sadly enough, with 640k of RAM, a 360k 5 1/4" floppy drive, and an optional serial port, the little Tandy that could was maxed out. Another thing that you may be able to tell from the photos is that this thing is small. This takes some of the smallest expansion cards outside PCMCIA cards I've ever seen. Nearly everything on this thing is nonstandard, too.

Therefore, we've eliminated putting in an Ethernet card, more RAM, or a hard drive. This leaves us with a machine with nearly no standard parts, no networking hardware, no harddrive, and those blasted 5 1/4" floppy disks that hold only 360k. (When's the last time you used a PC that has more RAM than storage space? :^)

That's when it hit me. The thing's got a serial port, and my main PC has two unused serial ports (I use an internal modem, and my mouse is a PS/2 IntelliMouse.) It's null-modem time!
