Microgold.com
is a excellent site for anyone who really wants to learn about UML. This site gives a fantastic overview of UML
but also goes into vast detail explaining the language as well as giving
tutorials. I would recommend this site
to beginners who are just starting to learn UML because it explains the
foundation of UML as well as why one would use it.
UML
World is actually an informational site about the UML conference that takes
place every year. From this site,
people interested in going to the conference can find out what speakers,
courses, and other special events are going to be available at upcoming
shows. This years conference will be
the Crowne Plaza Hotel in New York, June 12 – 15.
I
like this site because it contains all of UML specification documents. It also contains links to other sites that
have information and online documentation about UML. This site also contains extensive lists of books about UML and
software tools that utilise UML, as well as giving a chart that describes the
functionality of each tool.
This
is a great site if you are looking for a particular bibliography or reference
on UML.
I
found that this was a good site because it was one of the only ones that lets
you download a trial copy of their UML modeler. A person could download a copy, use it for a while, decide which
features he/she actually needs and from that make an intelligent decision about
which UML modeler to purchase. This
version is also a lot cheaper that Rational Rose but Rational Rose does have a
lot of features that Visual UML doesn’t have
This
is Rational Software’s site for UML resources.
I have found of all the sites that I found on the internet, Rational’s
was by far the best for resources, press releases, and specification
documents. They are, after all the ones
that founded the development of UML in the first place so it is not surprising
that they have the best web site for information.
