Debate flares over MS 'Spy Key'
http://www.wired.com/news/news/technology/story/21589.html
Ms has been accused of allowing Government access to MS customers through their windows operating system. This accusation started when Andrew Fernandes, chief scientist for a security software company Cryptonym, found that MS named an important security key _NSAKEY. NSA stands for National Security Agent. This key is a security key used in the encoding/decoding privileged information. The key helps to unlock the encrypted information. Ms denies all accusations and says the key was named after the agency to show it had met there required regulations for their product.
I don?t trust any big business or national government institutions. This world is based on money and power, this is a reflection of both. It is hard at this point to be sure of any realness to the claim, because both sides made seeming good points. But I do know one thing MS has been in hot water of late with the government and this could have been used to relieve some pressure.
I?m not sure whether I agree or disagree with the accusations or not. I do thinks it is good to be informed of such happenings because it allows us to know what is going on in the industry. But, it could also raise a lot a cane over a topic that is not close to being proven. I feel that maybe having more in-depth research might be necessary before alerting the public of such events.
It is a problem of security, which is huge in the transmission of information. It is an area that already scares me and most of the public because it is an invasion of privacy.
