FORD FAIRLANE ZL, FAIRMONT GHIA XF, & LTD

NOT Y2K COMPLIANT

FORD FAIRLANE ZL 1984 - 1987

1984 - 1987

Do you own one of these limo`s from FORD Australia ?

If so, then you will have to make some adjustments to it for the year 2000

Your trip computer & clock module is going to change from

Friday 31.12.99 to Saturday 01.01.84

From now on your computer will think it is actually in the year of 1984

This is not a problem, just remember the following:

Now the way this BIOS was programmed is pretty clever!

The year function runs sequently from 1984 to 1999.
Included in this range is four leap years, 1984, 1988, 1992, and 1996.
We have an extra day added to the end of February which is the 29th.
So the trip computer only knows of two types of yearly squences:

Y1 = JAN31, FEBXX, MAR31, APR30, MAY31, JUN30, JUL31, AUG31, SEP30, OCT31, NOV30, DEC31.

IF (YYYY(4) = YYYY(4) / 4)INT = 0 LET FEB = 29 ELSE FEB = 28

The day is independent of all factors. It simply increments at every 24Hour cycle of the clock!

So what do you have to do ?

Just ensure that a leap year is a leap year ie:

2000 can be either 1984, 1988, 1992 or 1996.

It is best to just let if tick over to 2000 = 1984, & if ever you have a flat battery just follow this guide:
2000=1984
2001=1985
2002=1986
2003=1987
2004=1988
2005=1989
2006=1990
2007=1991
2008=1992
2009=1993
2010=1994
2011=1995
2012=1996
2013=1997
2014=1998
2015=1999
2016=1984
Now the whole clycle can safetly repeat its self again!.
