The Invention
KEVLAR

Bulletproof Vest, 3K Camoflog and Helmets, 10K Space Shuttle, 4K

Stephanie Kwolek's discovery of a material which was five times stronger than steel was so unbelievable that she hesitated to report her results. Thinking that a mistake could have been made, she carefully double checked the results. There had been no mistake.

The material had an extremely low density - almost half the density of fiberglass. It was resistant to all kinds of wear and tear. It was flame resistant and nonconductive. Due to its strength, after it was developed, the product was given the masculine name KEVLAR.

KEVLAR is a DuPont registered trademark.
