In
the Beggining
This
file is the first explanation file as to who and what was/is CyberQue
Who
is CyberQue?
CyberQUE
is not a person. However, the webmaster is D. Richard White, 9/ZY/68
(for you younger brothers that means I crossed the sands in September of
1968 through the Second District Zeta Psi Chapter, Brooklyn New York -
I was the fourth on the line known as "Eleven steps and a limp".
I moved from New York to Kansas in 1983 but I still keep in contact with
the Bros. As always Omega burns in my heart and I'm quick to acknowledge
a Brother when I see one - always big time fun. Enough said, if you want
to know more about me visit my homepage.
I'm
a computer junkie and the whole internet thing has really fascinated me.
In September of 97 I decided to attempt putting together a website. Although
I am still learning I have gotten really hooked on creating websites -
besides CyberQue I have eight other sites, CyberQUE is by far my most aggressive
attempt at putting a website together.
What
is CyberQUE?
CyberQUE
is a collections of some of the best features of the Omega websites. Since
there are so few Omega websites compared to the number of chapters in existence,
CyberQUE was originally designed to provide a basic prototype for chapter
websites. As CyberQUE developed it was redesigned to provide a template
for Omega chapters which do not have a website. The workshop has a Template
which which can easily be downloaded, modified, and published as the chapters
own webpage. The template is complete with hyperlinks to the "standard
(national) pages" as well as the communication pages of CyberQUE. Hence,
, and Omega should be
the first of the greek organizations to declare so.
A second
template "My Omega Page" is forthcoming. MOP is being designed to provide
Brothers with an easy means of getting to the Omega communications network
of CyberQUE.
Besides
housing the templates, it is my intent to design the workshop to include
the many cyberspace resources from which I have drawn to learn how to build
websites.
The
inclusion of the CyberQUE Webring was designed to display the work of Brothers
in cyberspace. Viewing the work done by Brothers is an inspiration to those
of us who are learning or want to learn how to create websites. Hopefully
I will have the Webring up and running in the near future.
As a
final comment, I noted that many of our undergraduate chapters create their
websites on their school servers - thereafter when they graduate the chapter's
website is taken off the server. I would urge all Brothers to take their
websites off the school servers and move them to a cybercommunity such
as Fortunecity (which hosts this
website), Geocities ( where my home
page is) or one of the many sites like them. I would also urge that Netforwarding
be used to establish the website address, that way the site can be moved
to a different server without a change of address as far as anyone
other than the webmaster is concerned. For the same reason I would urge
all Brothers to establish their email accounts though a cyberspace email
provider such as Hotmail, or at least
use an email forwarding service such as Netforwarding or Bigfoot.
