EBONY'S "MOST INFLUENTIAL" LIST" |
| Dr. Dorsey C. Miller of Fort Lauderdale, FL, has been selected as
one of EBONY Magazines "100 Most Influential Black Americans" for 1997.
He is the Grand Basileus (national president) of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity.
This is the third consecutive year that Dr. Miller has appeared on the EBONY list. He is director of the Office of Diversity and Cultural Outreach of the Broward County Board of Education, and is president of D.C. Miller & Associates, one of the southeast’s largest African American owned paper supply firms. The Morehouse College graduate holds the masters degree from the U. of Florida and the doctor of education degree from Florida Atlantic U. Dr. Miller is a member of the Trustee Board of Mt. Olive Baptist Church, is a former vice chair of the South Florida Sports and Entertainment District (Blockbuster Park), and served on the Broward County Human Rights Board, the Board of Directors of the American Cancer Society, and the Broward Community College Board of Trustees. He has also served on the Board of Directors of the Urban League of Broward County, the Board of Governors of the Greater Fort Lauderdale Chamber of Commerce, the Broward County YMCA, and he was president of the Kiwanis Club of Central Broward. Dr. Miller is one of thirteen Omega men on EBONY'S "Most "Influential list". Other Omegas on the list include the Rev. Jesse Jackson, Bill Cosby, publisher Earl Graves, NBA star Michael Jordan, Atlanta mayor Bill Campbell, Congressman James Clyburn, Newark, NJ mayor Sharpe James, and Eddie N. Williams of the Joint Center for Political Studies. Omega Psi Phi is an International civic and fraternal organization with more than 240,000 members.
