Power Rankings:
1) Atlanta Braves: Same old Braves: Pitching, Pitching,
and more Pitching.
2) New York Yankees:
What can you say, there the Yankees, need a leftfielder though.
3) Arizona Diamondbacks: Nice team, going to go far,
possibly a first place again.
4) Boston Red Sox: Pedro, Garciaparra, and Everett
should help club win, but not much potential in rotation after Pedro.
5) Cleveland Indians: Look for Cleveland to win the
central again this year.
6) New York Mets: Piazza will lead club, nice punch with
Alfonse, Piazza, and Ventura.
7) Houston Astros: Nice foundation of Wagner, Dotel,
Cedeno, and Bagwell.
8) Seattle Mariners: Will losing Griffey hurt them? No,
pitching will lead them
9) Texas Rangers: Pudge proven catcher, but starting
pitching is a question.
10) Cincinnati Reds: Will Griffey help? I think so, but
a play-off berth? That is a question.
11) St. Louis Cardinals: McGwire and Edmonds provide
nice power, Ankiel really a can’t miss prospect?
12) San Francisco Giants: Kent and Bonds will help team
get far; starting pitching needs an ace though.
13) Oakland A’s: Very young team, with offensive
production and some decent pitching.
14) Pittsburgh Pirates: Kendall, Giles, Hermanson, and
Benson will equal a winner in two years.
15) Los Angeles Dodgers: going to be the same as before
with the dodgers. Plenty of talent,
no production
16) Philadelphia Phillies: Great outfield with Burrell,
Abreu, and Glanville. Pitching is a question after Schilling and Ashby.
17) Baltimore Orioles: Veteran leadership, not much
pitching, needs more youth.
18) Chicago Cubs: Cubs are going to finish in the same
spot as before, dead last.
19) Milwaukee Brewers: No offensive production coming
from the infield. Look for them to be in last place.
20) Toronto Blue Jays:
Weak at third, but young pitching should be decent
21) Chicago White Sox:
Young team with lots of offense, starting pitching is a question.
22) San Diego Padres:
Be at least three years before there a winner, maybe they should
send Gwynn to a contender so he can win a ring.
23) Anaheim Angels: Offense is decent, but pitching is
weak.
24) Detroit Tigers: Not going far, look for them to
acquire some starting pitching
25) Kansas City Royals: Young team with offensive
potential; pitching staff will give up Coors field type numbers
26) Tampa Bay Devil Rays: Young team, not going to go far right now, look for Hamilton
to get some playing time soon.
27) Minnesota Twins: Young team that isn’t going far,
need veteran leadership.
28) Colorado Rockies: Plenty of offense, but I’ve seen
better pitching in a little league game
29) Florida Marlins: I’ve seen high school baseball
teams with more experience then this team.
30) Montreal Expos:
Always have talent, but always trade it away, will it change this
year?
These are Chi Chi Bonzai opinions. If you do not agree with them, too
bad. Because, I am always right.
