Pearl Qing Yuan Zheng came from China - the most populated and highly polluted (now, it is getting better and better) country. She made her mind to be an environmentalist on a winter day at age of 16 when she was traveling on a train. There was a big tree. Plastic shopping bags, in different colors, were hanging all over its twigs. At that very moment, she knew what she would do in the rest of her life. Pearl obtained her bachelor degrees in Civil engineering (major in Environmental Engineering) and English from Tianjian University, China, then she worked briefly as a design engineer for North China Municipal Design and Research Institute (the biggest waste water research center in China). Pearl then traveled all the way to Canada and obtained a master degree in environmental engineering from McMaster University. Currently, she is working for JNE Consulting Ltd. Pearl is happy about what she has done and her plans include further research in the future. Her dream about doing "things" for our environment will never change.
