Todd's educational interests have always been aligned to natural systems and sustainability. Prior to Civil Engineering, he trained as a Physical Geographer with degrees from the University of British Columbia (B.Sc.) and McMaster University (M.Sc.). Following these degrees, he worked as a Terrain Mapper in a small geotechnical consulting firm in Vancouver. His group mapped road suitability for remote and difficult terrain where BC's remaining forest resources are found. The work was driven by the BC Government's desire for more sustainable logging practices, which is fully outlined in BC's Forest Practices Code legislation passed in 1995. Todd returned to graduate work in 1998 with great enthusiasm to develop expertise in the area of sustainable urban communities. With the support of wife, Mira, and dog, Fraser, Todd has sights on an academic position at a Canadian university. E-mail: [email protected] |
