Tomb of Semerkhet: the chess board | |
The "chess board" on the left (III millennium b.C.) was found by Sir L. Wolley, director of
Ur escavations from 1922 to 1934. See Escavations at Ur, I, II, III,
IV, V, London, 1934-1956. Picture form my private library. It's quite similar to the "egyptian" one of Tomb of Semerkhet. |
