Tomb Raider The Last Revelation:
do it with just one (or zero) small medipack!

Lastly I did it using only one small medipack (to clim up the pole with rotating blades in the Lost Library). Here you can see my final statistics (click on the image to enlarge it), with Lara on the exit ramp of the Temple of Horus, two steps before the final movie. The background has been lighted with two flares. The total time was 28:47:07 (plus the time needed for the last twio steps). I used 25,327 shoots, manly from the regular pistols (I've played pistols-only as much as possible). The final inventory was: UZI clips 1526, Revolver 81, Shotgun 362 + 352 power., Grenades 81 + 20 power. + 24 flash., Crossbow 182 + 90 pois. + 119 expl., Flares 290, Small Medipacks 89, Large Medipacks 71 (total 160 medi's).

Here's some tips to play Tomb Raider The Last Revelation, as long as possible, no-medipacks & pistols only style (while keeping all the secrets, obviously). These tips come from my second play, the first one I had no time to loose for these things.

First of all no problems in Cambodia: Ankor Wat, Race for the Iris (young Lara). In Valley of the Kings, Tomb of Seth and Burial Chambers are without problems, too.

The 1st (mild) difficulty is at the very beginning of Valley of the Kings, with all those bad boys: after many trials I ended that level almost dead, I think at 1% of health. Instead, KV5 is easy (do it by walking, and use your pistols, not the Rover, to kill). Almost all the Karnak (Temple of Karnak, Great Hypostyle Hall, Sacred Lake, Tomb of Semerkhet, Guardian of Semerkhet) can be done no-medipacks & pistols only: for the ninjas use a special pistol technique: fire, turn off the pistols so that they open their shield, turn pistols on and fire again, and repeat as many time is necessary.

The 2nd (mild) difficulty are the ninjas of Desert Railroad: for ninjas use the same technique and or the classical sidejump and fire (but remember that you are on a running train). In Alexandria it's not possible to shoot the targets (in Egyptian Adventures) with regular pistols, but a single crossbow explosive shoot works. All the skeletons in Coastal Ruins can be skipped without fight, but in Catacombs you should probably need the shotgun (and obviously the crossbow with regular ammo and laser viewer for the pair of secrets #2 and #3). Temple of Poseidon has no special problems.

The 3rd (hard) difficulty are the rotating blades of the Lost Library: the tin men and the horseman can be killed with pistols (it was hard, trust me), but now I think that it's not possible (in the game program) to climb up the pole with blades without any medi: actually I used here one small. Then Hall of Demetrius, Pharos, Temple of Isis, Cleopatra's Palaces present no particular problems.

The 4th (very hard) difficulty is the pair of machine-guns near the helicopter in the City of the Dead. I think that it's not possible (in the game program) to go in and out the room with the dead body without any medi. Actually I must confess that I used the crowling corner bug to get the guns roof and destroy them by shooting the cylinder by the helicopter... In Chambers of Tulun you can kill the higher boy with the revolver with the laser viewer. Thus one can enter Citadel Gate with just one small medi used and, with very few exceptions, "pistols only" (and one corner bug or a second small medipack). At this point you should have something like one hundred unused medies.

The 5th (very very hard) difficulty are the butterflies of Citadel Gate. The dragon is tame if you compare it with those horrible butterflies. Please don't talk me about white butterflies during next two months. But if you jump on the roofs with at least 20% of your initial health, you can kill the wasps with the revolver, saving something for the butterflies arising past the dragon (when you run back to the soldier street): they eat Lara also during the soldier movie. Finally, my health bar was almost totally black, but an exhausted Lara was able to climb back alive to the City of the Dead...

The remaining levels of Cairo are "easy": no special ennemies, no hard points. You just need some sideflip shooting in Trenches. Btw you can shoot the gun at the entrance of the trenches (in Trenches) by the regular pistols: just jump and fire to raise up to hit the target.

What's about Giza? In Sphinx Complex, you may have troubles with the 3 bad boys in the house of the secret, especially with the 1st one, coming out from the crawlspace: you can trigger it, then go back and fire from the crawl position (regular pistols only work in crawling mode). For the 2nd and the 3rd, press the button opening the gate, spprint into the crawlspace, go outside and shoot them from the long distancem over the pit. Underneath the Sphinx, Menkaure's Pyramid, Inside Menkaure's Pyramid, The Mastabas, and Great Pyramid are relatively "easy" levels. Watch only the big scorpios! But Lara can be hitted and poisoned by the small scorpios in the maze of Khufu's Queens Pyramid, where you have to get up the Eastern Shaft Key: I tried until I got the Key unpoisoned (under the blue fire of the Maze God...). Inside the Great Pyramid has no problems because it's not so hard and it has a levelgate to and from the previous level (crossing a level gate restore health at 100%).

What's about Seth? So I arrived in the Temple of Horus. The pole (with blades) and the bats are the real unique problem. If you learn how to get 2, 1 and 4 from 3 and 5, you can jump into water almost at 100%. Save the game before placing the 4th Holy Scripture (the "NO" bug), then take 2 sideflips to get into water safe from Seth, and get the Amulet of Horus. Then the trick is: don't stop. Probably Seth will hit Lara while climbing the white wall, but you are in TR4 with free saving...
