It had seemed a long time coming - it had been !!!!! Star Trek The Motion Picture was the first, and the most successful (at the box office)of all the movies.It was released in 1979 in the UK and started a series of movies and fot that it has to be considered valuable.
The Motion Picture was directed by Robert Wise and starred the cast of the original series see below. The film tells the story of a returning space probe - Voyager - that has been altered by a machine based technology (claimed to be Borg by William Shatner in his novel The Return)to aid it in it's search for the creator - major similarities hear to "Nomad" TOS. The film is a little slow to get off the ground and suffers a little from some less than brilliant special effects, but is nevertheless held together by its storyline. Some scenes are a bit laborious - stand-by with the remote - the costume design isn't the best either !!! - Overall the film deserves a 5 out of 10.
