Game Metal Slug X
System PsOne
Company SNK/Agetec
Game Type Action/Shooter

Back in September of 2000 when Agetec announced that they will be bringing
theremaining SNK games tothe U.S. after the annoucement of SNK being dead in States, I was left wondering if this marvel would ever grace U.S. soil. Then
I did a little research to gather some info and I found out that we would
have access to this excellent example of what I love in my hardcore games.
Naturally as any hardcore gamer would I jumped outta my chair and screamed
like a little school girl. But But what made this annoucement even better was
the fact that it would grace everyones little love/hate machine the
PsOne.Upon hearing this new information I damn near fainted. Well sure you
can said its just a revamped version of Metal Slug 2 on the NG,
byt...well...is that actually a bad thing?..Well I think not.
Let me start out by saying if your new to the action/shooter genre, do not
expect the best graphics or any large 3-D characters that are featured in
many other games such as well say Soul Calibur, but do expect heart pacing,
lightning fast, 2-D hand drawn side scrolling complete maddness in all of its
glory. But something you can also expect to see in many shooters (especially
in MSX) is some of the best damn animation in any genre. As many hardcore
gamers know these games do not put thought graphics wise besides the
animation. And to be honest, this game wouldn't win any awards graphic wise
but if there were a grammy awards session for videogames this one would easly
fit in the best gameplay section and replay value(that is if you cut off the
unlimited continues....DON'T BE A WANK!).
Speaking of gameplay, the Metal Slug series is known for having the best
controls and insane gameplay over any other series in the genre. With that
deeply noted, MSX doesn't lose any ground in this factor either. The basic
gameplay of the MS series is one or two players fight it out side by side
through a multifarious amount of levels with things flying everywhere, a
large amount of evil villians attacking you from front, back, up, down, and
dementedly huge bosses that fill the entire screen....AH....I love being a
Hardcore Gamer!!!
MSX lets you choose from four main characters to rip the game up with six
different weapons, four lofty powerful vehicles, other wise known as Metal Slugs hince the title of the game. I also can't forget all the add-on features such as
the art gallery where you can feature many cool screens and so on from the
series, a Combat school where you will be graded by testing your killing
skills, and numerous extra training missions to make the replay value sky
rocket. Plus I can't forget to mention that the game has four levels of
difficulty ratings to also enhance the striking game to the next level.
The music is not too shabby either with wild upbeat kill' em all type of
attitude. Being a hardcore gamer I highly recommend any other of my kind(hell
I recommend it to the casual gamers as well) to give this title a whirl. With
all that said and done I give Metal Slug X for the PsOne a well deserved 8
game brains outta 10..... and may the hardcore gaming god shine over you for
playing a great game......Now lets see what we can do about Agetec making

Graphics 7.5
Sound/Music 8
Story 8
Replay 8.5
Fun 10
Overall 8
