INQUISITION

The data files are still in transit from Starfleet Headquarters. Information will be made available soon.
INQUISITION:
Bashir is working in his medical lab. Odo comes in, and Bashir explains that he is preparing for a medical conference on Casperia. Then, O'Brien comes in, telling Bashir that he dislocated his arm from kayaking. Bashir tells him to stay away from the river until he gets back. Bashir heads off to sleep.
Bashir is awoke, and before he can leave for the conference, he is called to Ops with the rest of the senior staff. In Ops, everyone watches Sisko arguing with a representative from Starfleet Internal Affairs. The man from Internal Affairs introduces himself as Deputy Director Sloane, and orders a full quarantine of Deep Space Nine. He has news from Starfleet Intelligence that a Dominion spy is on DS9, and the station will remain locked down until the spy is caught. Sloane has already informed the medical conference that he won't be in attendance. For the time being, the senior staff is confined to quarters.
In the meantime, Bashir paces his room. He tries to order breakfast from the replicator, and gets no response. He drops something under his furniture, when he is summoned to be interrogated by Sloane. Sloane asks a few questions about his time in the Dominion prison camp Internment Camp 371, and how he lied about his genetic status for so long. Bashir tells Sloane that he hasn't been able to get the replicators to work, and Sloane explains that they had to be taken offline in case the spy tried to replicate a communicator, or a weapon. Bashir orders some breakfast, and is escorted back to his quarters.
A few hours later, Bashir's breakfast is delivered to him, however, it is actually Worf's breakfast. After careful examination, Bashir learns that his quarters has been looked through. Suddenly, Bashir recieves a message from O'Brien who says he was interrogated for 2 hours, all about Bashir. Just as the conversation starts, O'Brien's signal is cut off, and a security officer escorts Bashir to another interrogation session with Sloane.
During the interrogation, Sloane hints at that Bashir may have been trained by the Dominion to believe one thing, but do the other. Bashir refuses to believe him, but Sloane insists that he is the spy. Bashir is shackled, and dragged across the Promenade for all to see. Sisko, Kira and Quark comfort Bashir, and say that they'll get him out of this mess. Bashir is finally led into a Internal Affairs-run security, and finally into a security cell.
The next morning, Sisko meets with Bashir. He and Sloane have agreed to that two factors; Sisko may meet with Bashir anytime he wants, and that Sisko will sit in any interrogations to ensure that Bashir's rights are respected. But, however, at the interrogation, everything that Bashir has done is thrown back at him. Even Sisko was used as evidence against him. That evening, Sisko agrees to call it a night, and that they will talk in the morning.
Later that night, Bashir is awoken by Sloane. Sloane has orders directly from Starfleet to take Bashir to a high security cell at a Starbase, with any means necessary. As Bashir is about to be cuffed, he is beamed out. When he rematerializes, he finds himself on a Cardassian ship, and Weyoun, who welcomes him home.
Weyoun keeps insisting the same thing that Sloane was; that he was brainwashed in Internment Camp 371. Weyoun even goes to the extent of serving him his favourite food, when Bashir stumbles upon an important fact; that both Sloane and Weyoun are trying to convince him of the same lie. He comes to the conclusion that Sloane is the real spy. Suddenly, the ship comes under attack by the Defiant. The ship takes a heavy hit, and the guards are dazed. Worf and Kira beam aboard, and knock out the Cardassian and Jem'Hadar guards, and beam out with Bashir.
On the Defiant bridge, Bashir is denounced by everyone. When he tries to convince O'Brien of his innocence, he learns that O'Brien's arm isn't really broken. Bashir tells a lie about his injury and inquires to how it left, and O'Brien falls for it. Bashir suddenly realizes that the whole thing isn't real. The Defiant bridge fizzles out, and is now a holosuite, and he is accompanied by Sloane, and two of his aides.
Sloane informs him that he has been in the holosuite, and his neural signs have been monitored ever since the station lock down, and he has been sized up for a huge position in Section 31, a secret branch of Starfleet Intelligence, that answers to no one except themselves. Bashir turns down the position, and is sent back to DS9.
Back at Deep Space Nine, Bashir tells everyone about his experiences with Sloane and Section 31. Odo compares Section 31 to the Obsidian Order and the Tal Shiar. Sisko sees Sloane as the person who won't take no for an answer, and tells Bashir that if Sloane ever returns, to join Section 31.
