· Name: John Lynch
· Height: 185 cm (6'1")
· Weight: 84 kg (185 lbs.)
· Age: 40 something
· Family: Robert Lane (son)
· History: Lynch's career began within an unnamed branch in the US army where his personal traits were quickly discovered and appreciated. He soon found himself leader of a group called Team 7, a team of the finest and best soldiers from all branches of the service. Made the leader of the team, he lacked the respect of his fellow teammates due to his strict adherence to the rules, and the chain of command, never questioning anything he was told to do, and simply beliveing that the government had the best in mind, even after the government nuked Lynch and the rest of the Team 7 members just to see if they could survive. Their exposure to the gen-factor started when they were sent on a supposed black ops mission but were led into a trap conducted by Miles Craven, the responsible for starting IO and was in charge of all Team 7 activities. Waking up a few weeks later, all of the members with the exception of Michael Cray aka Deathblow (his powers would not reveal themselves for about 20 years) displayed greatly enhanced mental powers. The Team later broke up when they were sent on another bogus mission, and Craven sent a low yield nuke down on top of them. After the team broke up, Lynch was the only one to stay with the Government, and became a Major. Later on the Goverment tried to make a Team 8, but they were killed on their first mission in Cambodia. After the govement had given Deathblow a full pardon, he and Lynch started to search for the remaining members of the former Team 7 in Nicaragua.
Team 7 was talked into doing a final mission to stop the Russians from obtaining nuclear weapons that had been left behind in case of emergency. During this mission Backlash learned about his psionic whips, and Jackson Dane from Wetworks lost most of his memories. During this mission Lynch himself became entagled in combat with a Russian telekinetic. Lynch ended the fight when a surge of power lashed from his eye after ripping it out of the socket himself due to the extreme pain. Staying with the government, he went on to become the Director of Operations at I.O. He lost his son due to one of his companions, and has been looking for him since then. The boy must be the age of Threshold.
He has left I.O. to become the mentor of the Gen13 teens who were assembled against Lynch's advice since the experiments conducted on the Gen12's had driven most of them mad. Now he lives with the kids in his house in La Jolla, near San Diego. Lynch has many enemies, which is dangerous for the group. He is also supposed to be helping the kids find their parents, although in trying to protect them, sometimes he omits important details. His strong character keeps him in constant confrontation with Fairchild, who hates being treated as a kid. During the Fire from Heaven story, Lynch learned that Bobby Lane, aka Burnout, was his long-lost son. Neither Bobby nor Lynch is comfortable about this fact.
· Powers/Abilities: Although many would point to Lynch's tactical mind and leadership as his greatest powers, his exposure to the Gen Factor had endowed him with super-human abilities. He considers these powers a closely guarded secret and rarely uses them, as each use causes him to weaken considerably.
