Was supposed to attend a burn treatment conference on Meezan IV, but was kidnapped by the Dominion and replaced by a Founder. While the Founder hijacked the Runabout Yukon to destroy the Bajoran sun with a trilithium explosive the REAL Julian was being held captive at the Dominion Internment camp 371, on an asteroid in the Gamma Quadrent.
Experienced what he thinks is a "predestination paradox". While the crew of DS9 went on a time travel mission to 2267 to try to capture a renegade Klingon, Bashir met a woman, Ensign Whatley, on the Enterprise 1701, whom he thinks may have been his great-grandmother.
While being the model for the new LMH, Dr. Lewis Zimmerman uncovers Julian's secret genetic resequencing. Instead of Julian losing his career in Starfleet, his father, Richard, makes them a deal. He goes to a minimum security prison for two years, Julian keeps his position and rank in Starfleet.

Julian Subatoi Bashir was born, on Earth, with severe learning disabilities.
At the age five he performed his first surgery - on his beloved Kukalaka. He had to stitch his leg.
At the tender age of six, Richard and Amsha, distressed over their child's slower-than-average-learning started a new life by taking Julian to Adigeon Prime for genetic resequencing. This was a highly illegal procedure.
He and his father, a diplomat, were trapped in an ion storm on Invernia II. He watched a young girl die because no one knew that the properties of a local herb contained a cure for her illness. It was this instance in retrospect that in part influenced him to become a doctor.
Entered Starfleet Medical.
Fell in love while studying to be a physician, with ballerina Palis Delon. Her father offered him his own, non-Starfleet career as Chief of Surgery in the medical complex he headed in Paris, but he declined. (He has not spoken with Palis since he left Earth, but still refers to her as the love of his life.)
Graduated from Starfleet Medical, second in his class, (first being Elizabeth Lense). He would have been first, but he mistook a preganglionic fibre for a postganglionic nerve. He was, however, first in his class in paediatric medicine.
Became romantically involved with the Elaysion, Ensign Melora Pazlar. The treatments he devised would have allowed her to be free from her wheelchair but would have made it impossible for her to return to her planet, where she could fly with her family and friends due to the low gravity. She decided the treatments should be discontinued and left Julian to map the Gamma quadrant. He wrote a report on the treatments anyway.
Was nominated for the Carrington Award, the youngest nominee in it's history and the age of 30, for his research on biomolecular replication.
Spent several weeks, while being held captive in the Gamma Quadrent with Chief O'Brien, trying unsuccessfully to find a cure to the addictive ketracel-white, the drug that keeps the Jem'Hadar under Dominion control.
Was involved with the Bajoran Dabo girl, Leeta, for a few months, until they performed the Bajoran Rite of Separtaion while vacationing on Risa. (Go get that Jamaharon!!)
Experienced a profound personal loss when his close friend, Jadzia Dax, was attacked by a pagh'wraith. While he was able to save the life of the Dax symbiont she carried, her life he could not save. This was the same day he told her she and Worf would be have been able to concieve children.
