Was presider for DS9s Gratitude Festival. Was going to spend the holiday with Bariel, but fell for Dr. Bashir instead due to visitor Lwaxana Troi's suffering of Zanthi fever. It only works on the latent relationships.
Her romance with Vedek Bareil ended tragically when he died during secret Bajoran/Cardassian peace negotiations on DS9. Benjamin Sisko took his place to complete the meetings with the "aide" of Kai Winn. Winn would later take credit for the talks, although all of the ideas were Bareil's.

While searching for a missing Bajoran prison ship in the company of Gul Dukat, she finally found out of the death of her friend Lorit Akrem. At the same time, while stumbling upon a Breen prison camp, she and Dukat found Dukat's illegitamate daughter, Tora Ziyal. Her mother was a Bajoran, Tora Naprem. He, wanted to kill her, was thwarted by his emotion for Kira, and was convinced to let her live. That subsequently meant he lost his title and position in Cardassian military.

Kira gave birth to a healthy boy in a traditional Bajoran birthing ceremony. The O'Brien's named their son Kirayoshi, in honour of Kira.
Born during the Cardassian Occupation to Kira Toban and Meru, in Dhakur Province, Bajor.
Her mother, Kira Meru, was taken to Terok Nor, now known as Deep Space Nine, as a "comfort woman". Her father told her and her brothers that she died of malnutrition.
At the age of 12, joined the Shakaar Resistence cell. She was recruited by friend Lorit Akrem. She spent most of her time running errands and cleaning weapons.
She was accecpted by the group when Shakaar himself approved her replacing a member for a raid on a Cardassian skimmer. The earring she wears to date is made by cellmate Lupaza, from the metal of that skimmer.
Helped to temporarily liberate the Cardassian labor camp, Gallitepp, the most notorious of them all.
Obtained a list of collaborators on Terok Nor. She was found out by the chemist Vaatrik and subsequently killed him. In a trial headed by Security Chief Odo, she was found not guilty, although it was later found out she had decieved him.
Opposed Bajoran Provisional Government to enlist Ferderaion assistence in maintaining DS9, but, nevertheless, worked with the Starfleet crew.
Became romantically involved with Vedek Bareil Antos.
Was kidnapped to Cardassia Prime and surgically altered to appear as the Cardassian Iliana (an operative from the Obsidian Order). This was later found out to be a plot to expose Legate Ghemore, Iliana's father, as a member or the Cardassian underground movement.
Became romantically involved for the first time since Bareil's death with now First Minister of Bajor, Shakaar Edon. The same Shakaar that the Resistence cell she was a member of was named after.
Served as a surrogate mother to the unborn son of Keiko and Miles O'Brien. When Keiko was injured on the Runabout Volga during a botanical mission to Torad IV, the fetus could only be sustained if transplanted in Kira. When they arrived at the station it was learned that because of Bajoran anatomy, the complex bond of nerves between mother and unborn child made it impossible for Dr. Bashir to remove the fetus to return to Keiko. End prognosis: Kira had to carry the O'Brien's baby to term.
